Story
“Love at first sight” is a laughable concept in the considered opinion of Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam and never occurs in real life—certainly not in the life of an experienced soldier. In fact, until he observes the smitten nature of his cousin Fitzwilliam Darcy, he doubts that fervent love exists. Marriage, after all, is a matter of money, social standing, and property.

Story
Elizabeth Bennet dreads encountering Mr. Darcy when she visits Pemberley, for surely, after she spurned his offer of marriage, he must despise her. Yet they do meet, and to her astonishment, he holds no resentment towards her. Regrettably, someone else does. Unbeknownst to Elizabeth, her reintroduction to the master of Pemberley is far from universally welcomed. There are others for whom prejudice is stirred up by the familiarity between Miss Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Story
"It is the way of the world, Elizabeth. Men hold power over women, but I am not a man who wants to wield such power. I would prefer a woman who has some power over me". Fitzwilliam Darcy already has one arranged marriage in his past. The last thing he envisions for himself is another, yet he has somehow become entrapped in a promise to a dying man. Not only must Darcy overcome his resentment in order to live up to his sense of honour, but when he realises how deeply his heart may be engaged, he must convince Elizabeth Bennet of his true feelings.

Shakespeare's most sophisticated comedy is a riotous tale of hopelessly unrequited passions and mistaken identity. Duke Orsino is in love with the noblewoman Olivia. Meanwhile, Olivia's arrogant steward Malvolio is cruelly tricked by her uncle Sir Toby Belch, his friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and the maidservant Maria into believing his mistress loves him.

Publisher's summary
"Journeys end in lovers’ meetings, every wise man’s son doth know." (William Shakespeare)
It is a truth universally acknowledged that the disastrous first meeting of Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet at the Meryton Assembly provided each with a ready-made set of prejudices to apply to the other. But when a horrific rural accident reveals Darcy to be a man of active, intelligent benevolence, and Elizabeth, in the absence of her appalling family, to be an extraordinary lady of courage and decision - then, surely, the course of true love will run smoothly.
But alas, the lovers' meeting is not the end, but a new beginning. For though they have found each other, a seeming multitude of complications - a catastrophic flood, the last wishes of a dying friend, Lydia’s misfortunes, a dastardly member of parliament, and even their own fears - contrives to come between them and their journey’s end.

One of the turning points in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is Miss Elizabeth Bennet's passionate refusal and denunciation of the equally passionate but infinitely more repressed Fitzwilliam Darcy. However, unforeseen events can lead to the most unexpected consequences. During a visit with her friend, Charlotte Collins, at Hunsford, Elizabeth falls prey to illness for almost the first time in her life just as Mr. Darcy comes to call. Befuddled by her illness, she misinterprets his proposal of marriage, and a simple nod of acknowledgment is mistaken for acceptance.

This slightly unhinged romantic comedy follows Fitzwilliam Darcy as he sets off to find himself a wife and instead finds himself pulled into the mire of his aunt’s machinations and his own fascination with Elizabeth Bennet, whom he believes betrothed to another. As Meryton judges him the grieving groom of Anne de Bourgh and a caddish dallier with the hearts of others, Darcy must ferret out the truth behind his cousin’s disappearance, protect his sister from the fretful fate of all Fitzwilliam females, and most importantly, win Elizabeth’s heart.

Story

This book did not knock my socks off, but I did enjoy it. From the beginning Elizabeth recognizes that Darcy is a good man but of course they still have their problems getting to marriage and a HEA.

Lovers Meeting
Loved the ebook, and the audiobook is really good. Many humorous parts; I especially enjoyed Mrs. Bennet’s early wacky comments such as confusing Mr. Bennet’s comparison of Lizzy to the intrepid Boudicca and calling her “Bow-legged Caesar”.
David Pickering does a great Darcy with an unhappy and depressed voice.

Good Story
”Trip no further, pretty sweeting
Journey’s end in Lovers’ meeting
Every wise man’s son doth know.”
—Shakespeare, Twelfth Night
A different beginning for Darcy and Elizabeth when they meet at the scene of an accident near Longbourn, and they both render aid. Darcy takes charge and displays leadership, kindness, and compassion towards the injured, as does Elizabeth. Consequently, they both come away with favourable impressions of one another, and Darcy earns the respect of neighbours.
With every subsequent meeting with Elizabeth, Darcy is more and more enthralled. From his youth, inculcated with a sense of duty and pride for his family name by his father, he feels he cannot marry beneath him, especially after meeting her family.
There is a momentous twist given to the usual encounter between Darcy and Wickham in Meryton. That was quite epic in my opinion! Well done! Darcy is ashamed however.
Of course there’s Lydia, poor stupid Lydia, although she seemed more innocent in this story and I rather felt sorry for the uneducated child she really is.
I enjoyed the subtle humour in places.
Mr. B. —“Perhaps he might prefer my Lizzy. He was quite taken with her intrepidity.”
Mrs. B.—“Well, she ought to have kept it better covered.”
This is such a good story. I truly loved the portrayals of ODC in this variation. David Pickering’s performance is always excellent.

Enjoyable!
This was a very enjoyable story and was very well performed.
In most variations, once their differences are resolved, their wedding is soon accompanied. In this one there always seems to be another obstacle to overcome. That delay leads to some fairly steamy scenes. Nothing overly mature, but very much strongly suggested and descriptive of their mutual state Of pent up restraint.
There are several side stories that are both used to show Elizabeth who Darcy truly is, and later in the story, to delay their wedding, but it all comes together nicely.
