Publisher's summary

Elizabeth Bennet inherits a stunning fortune. Mr. Darcy left Hertfordshire to escape his attraction to her—will her sudden wealth pull them together or drive them further apart?

February of 1812 brings startling news to Longbourn; a distant relation has left Elizabeth an astonishing fortune. She is overwhelmed by a multitude of suitors in pursuit of her wealth but is determined to never marry a man who only loves her money.

Jane Bennet is devastated that Mr. Bingley fled Netherfield and abandoned their budding romance. Will his apologies and renewed attention be enough, or will Colonel Fitzwilliam win Jane’s heart?

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, the master of Pemberley, sought to elude his fascination with Elizabeth but soon discovers that he is hopelessly in love with her, and he despairs when he learns that she despises him.

Elizabeth once found Mr. Darcy to be the most insufferable of gentlemen...could he now be the perfect man for her?

This is a sweet and clean, low-angst Pride and Prejudice variation where all of the Bennet sisters have happy endings.

Left Curious….

I’m curious about the conversation between Col. Fitzwillam and Elizabeth Bennet at the ball. Fitzwilliam was saying something to Elizabeth about Darcy, then suddenly his sentence is cut off. I am surprised by this…. That it wasn’t caught during editing. This takes place at the end of chapter 21- and then goes on to chapter 23. So, what all did he say? What did all listeners miss?

A bit too much religious references for me, and this seems to be an ongoing theme with this author in her other books.

That said, I do like the story and have listened to it multiple times. Harry Frost is seriously amazing , as usual.

Fun twist on a classic

I really thought I wouldn’t like it. When the main character is a woman I prefer that the narrator be a woman as well but the narrator was quite good and I got over my prejudice rather quickly. It was a fun what if type of book and I loved the Epilogues at the end. They wrapped up everything so well!

A definite favorite!

I prefer the less angst Pride and Prejudice versions! The story is terrific and the narration is superb. I recommend this if you prefer a variation that doesn’t drag out storylines-especially the theme of poor communication, no communication or other misunderstandings. I will be listening to this audiobook again and again!

A Complete Delight!

I fell in love with this story early. It’s diverging plot and character development kept my interest all the way to the end. I loved the way this writer developed the individual story lines for all the Bennet sisters, not just the main characters. There was redemption, compassion, honesty, and justice, and I can’t imagine any fan of Pride and Prejudice variations not loving this story.

Excellent writing and narration

Both this author and the narrator are favorites of mine. Neither disappoints.
This plot was so different but most enjoyable!

Great book. Great narrating

Loved this book. And listening makes the experience even better. I love how Harry Frost do different voices depending on the character. It was a joy to listen to this story. Highly recommended it to a Jane Austen fan fiction lover. Great Jaff

Harry bring story to life

This is an enjoyable story that Harry Frost brings to life. Some say the religious parts were too much but I disagree as I thought they were tastefully placed and fits with what church going characters would have said/done in that era. In this story Elizabeth finds out that she has inherited 70K and Aunt Gardiner also inherited money and a house in town. Elizabeth & Jane are sponsored to attend the season and thankfully twin governesses are hired to help with the younger girls. These ladies are worth every penny they were paid for the challenging job they had. I do like how Wickham was dealt with. As well as Darcy finding out early what Elizabeth thought of him and his realization that he needed to correct his behavior and at least become friends. Oh Bingley you are truly led by your sister but at least you did reform at the end. You all will have to read/listen to see what that all entails. Overall it is a sweet love story in the long run.

Wonderful story and wonderful narration

This was such an interesting variation. I often find myself a little board half way through books but this one really keeps you hooked throughout. The writing is excellent and the narrator did a great job with all the different characters. As with all JAFF there are always A LOT of main characters and side characters to keep track of and Harry Frost did a wonderful job differentiating who was speaking and making each person believable. This is will be relisten for sure! I do very enjoy Ms. Kendig’s writing, she writes very well and her her stories are always captivating, but this maybe my favorite.

Slightly slow start, but then excellent

I felt there was a lot of descriptive information at the beginning of the book, so switched to listening rather than reading. Harry Frost’s narration made the difference for me and it was just lovely from then on. Money or not, finding the right marriage partner was the theme of this story.
