A Pride & Prejudice Variation

After thinking long and hard, I have come to the conclusion that - although it may not be the kind of love my sister and I once had in mind - marrying Mr Darcy would be marrying for a love of the deepest kind.

Recovering from their parents' deaths, Elizabeth and Jane Bennet have held their family together, leaning on the support of their uncle, Edward Gardiner, to help them survive. Thus, when Mr. Gardiner is threatened with scandal and ruin, Elizabeth vows to help him. Hearing of her distress, the scandalous Fitzwilliam Darcy enters her life - offering his aid in exchange for her hand. Accepting his proposal upends her life in unimaginable ways as she learns of the treachery of the peer courting her, the betrayal and violence committed by her childhood friend, and the threat to her country as it faces another war.

As Elizabeth and Darcy face the turmoil and trials swirling around them, they risk opening their hearts to unexpected passion. In order to survive challenges from without and fears within, they must summon unknown strengths and forge new bonds to solidify a love of the deepest kind.

What a great book, have read Taken by this author, And decided to try out for the deepest loves, so glad I did Fell in love with it within the first couple of words!!!!

Good story and excellent narration.

I really enjoyed the excellent narration by Sarah Groarke whose presentation was very engaging with its vibrant delivery. Well done! Five stars.

Interesting storyline

Off canon variation that has D&E coming together in a different manner and battling a secret organization. Elizabeth is stronger and more self confident whereas Darcy has been beaten down by the Wickham episode. I do think the author left some loose ends dangling that I found irritating. If something was good enough to jumpstart the plot, I think it should have been resolved, IMHO.
This was a new narrator for me. I had to start it over twice to get a bead on her cadence and pacing, but once I did I found her voice to be soothing and easy to listen to. I would definitely listen to her again.

I disliked how the couple came together so fast. I liked how sweet, clean, and historical this variation is.

Tale of Traitors and Espionage

In this variation Elizabeth and her sisters are orphans, wards of the Gardiners. Elizabeth is enjoying a season in town and has not one, but three men obsessed with her. The Gardiners are in financial difficulties and in danger of a ruined reputation when Darcy offers for Elizabeth and to assist the Gardiners.

Unfortunately her marriage doesn’t end the obsession of the other two men and it soon becomes obvious that more than lust is involved. A near death for Elizabeth and Wellington brings Colonel Fitz to investigate. Will Darcy and his cousin unravel the plot before Elizabeth is stolen away or worse?
