Publisher's summary

His world was water and rhythm. Hard work and drive kept Royal O'Connell one step ahead of his competition. His spot on the swim team, keeping his scholarship, was the only plan that mattered.

His world was ebony and ivory. Natural talent and ambition set Camden Morgan apart from the other music majors. His dedication scored him a full ride.

Normally, their paths would have never crossed...but when Royal meets his best friend's new roommate, his big plan and Camden's controlled environment faces a variable that could destroy it all: attraction.

The world they live in had no room for error. That undeniable pull between them was dangerous, and neither one of them could've prepared for the choice they'd have to make.

Love isn't always an easy road, and when everything they've worked for is on the line, they'll have to decide if being together is worth the risk.

Contains mature themes.

A very sweet romance story

The story of Royal and Camden. Such a sweet heartwarming romance.
Royal is a twin, at school on a scholarship for the swim team and meets his teammates roommate. Camden, he's a very introverted isolated piano genius. These boys grow so much, it's such a sweet story I enjoyed it very much the narration was so good.

I felt this story in my heart.

I have listened to this book three times since I bought it, it's a story I could listen to over and over again and if I had it in paperback the pages would be bent and the spin broken from frequent re-reads. As a writer, working on my first MM romance I started listening to MM romances for reseach and now I'm addicted. It helps that Teddy Hamilton and Aaron Shedock are two of my favorite narrators. I could listen to the two of them read the dictionary. The only way it would be better is if it were narrated in duet.

Excellently written

Loved this book and have enjoyed a few others from this author. This book has a lot more prose and eloquence than I think I remember in her other books. It was lighter on the sex scenes which also added a bit more weight to the simple emotions of the moment and she did a great job getting us inside the characters heads. Can’t appreciate the one star reviews that give no feedback on what they disliked in the story, so ignore them. This was a good balance of cute and deep with a sprinkle of angst. I have more or less stopped reading m/f novels but I think I might give the next book a try.

An angsty, m/m coming of age love story that will stay with you for a long time

AM Johnson is an amazing author that draws such beautiful imagery that you feel like you are watching a movie not just listening to her book. You can feel the pain that Camden feels and how he channels it into his music. You can feel the love Royal has for his twin and his family. When he first laid eyes on Camden it makes me sigh.

Always love Teddy Hamilton and Aaron Sherlock and they were well cast as Royal and Camden. The vulnerability and uncertainty is there in their narration.

The love scenes are not as explicit but totally beautifully written. The story is focused on their budding romance and the discovery in itself.

Definitely worth a credit!

slow paced

The story was slow and average. I probably wouldn't have finished the book if not for the narrators they brought the characters to life and the desire to know their HEA.

Great book great storyline brings awareness to bullying.

Great book. Author does a amazing job with the story line. Also the narrators did great as well. Very easy to hit play and get stuff done around the house while hearing a story. Not really a over the top smug book. sex scenes are not over the top and only a handful of them compare to other books.

Great job by the author good story line that hits on some trigger topics that needs to be discussed and stop being over looked by others.

If you see bullying please stand up with the victim and help. Always show kindness to others.

Slow burn

I really enjoyed Royal and Camden's story. It was not at all what I expected and pleasantly surprising. This is a very slow burn but so worth the listen or read. I listened to the audiobook and Aaron Shedlock and Teddy Hamilton did an amazing job with this story.

Just Beautiful!

I am a fan of A.M. Johnson but held off listening to this book - and I regret every minute of it !

I mean duh, Teddy Hamilton and Aaron Shedlock are amazing as always . The author tells a beautiful story of a boy who has only ever had music and a boy who has always been shown love and acceptance .. and how they are perfect for one another. I loved how the subject of mental illness is managed - as something that exists, its not the best but we love the people and we help them manage .

Great story

I really liked this love story, the way how emotions were expressed and described. The main characters are so different and yet they found each other. The one thing I didn't love is the fact that they are 19,too early to find hea,but didn't ruined overall opinion about the book. Narrators were great,as always, especially Teddy.
