About last night.... I could blame the bourbon. I could say I let things get out of hand, that I should have never called you, but I'm done lying to myself - to you. I know what you're going to say. You're not very good at keeping your opinions to yourself, but this can't happen. It's inappropriate, at best. I'm your boss. Not to mention, you're clearly still hung up on him. I'm not a consolation prize.

I couldn’t tell you when I fell in love with Gael Herrera, but I wish I knew how to make it stop. Falling in love with a straight man is a rookie mistake. But falling in love with my soon-to-be-married-to-a-woman best friend is nothing but heartache. Through all the years, and all the men I’ve fooled around with, he’s always been at the back of my mind. An unrequited crush I wish I could shake. A dream that was never going to come true. When I whisk him off to a surprise bachelor party weekend in Vegas, I surrender to the idea that this is an opportunity for me to finally let go.

Story
Growing up, Jude McCallister was the bane of my existence. My best friend. Fiercest ally. The most annoying boy in the world. At 18, the boy I loved to hate became the man I couldn’t live without. We were young. Madly in love. Invincible. Strong enough to weather any storm. Cocky enough to believe that no amount of time or distance could destroy us. When Jude finally returned home from overseas, it should have been cause for celebration. But the man I’d fallen in love with was gone, and in his place was someone I no longer recognized.

Publisher's Summary
Wilder,
When I left that night, I had every intention of coming back to you. To us. But no matter how hard I wish for what I want, there are some things in life that aren't meant to be. I don't expect you to understand. You've already moved on, living your life. But mine ended that night, nine years ago, and I still can't let you go. Not sure I ever will. I regret so many things, but hurting you, I'll never forgive myself. I'm sorry for...everything.
Jax
Jax,
If only you could've seen it like I did, the way you were when you thought the world wasn't watching. How you'd change when I looked at you, when it was just us. But most of all...I wish you could've seen how much it hurt me when you disappeared. Regrets are for cowards. It has always been my belief you should chase after the things you want with actions, not words. There is no such thing as never meant to be.
So this apology...not accepted....

first off, Kirt Graves and Tim Paige do an excellent job narrating. Two Outstanding narrators that make a good team.
HEA, even if it takes a while to get there. Smoking hot sex scenes keep you interested in seeing what happens next. Really nice first book in a new series. Looking forward to the rest of the series and cast of characters.
Hopefully, Kirt and Tim will be back for the rest of the series too.

Thanks
The last few books that I read just didn’t do it for me. I was initially reluctant trying an author that was new to me, but I bought it anyway. I’m so glad I did. The story was solid and kept my interest. I appreciated the humor...it only works well in audio books when the humor is well written AND the narrators know how to deliver it. Kudos to both. The author’s choices in revealing each characters’ challenges and apprehensions felt honest and therefore believable. This assisted in maintaining my interest in both the characters and storyline.

Perfectly balanced
Wilder and Jackson have been through hell, each man has suffered since the day they separated 9 years ago. However through all the pain and life they have dealt with while apart they have never stopped loving each other. The road to finding each other again is long and tumultuous but god is it rewarding. This book is a perfect balance of realness, sweetest love and steam. And when you finally get to the HEA it is beyond rewarding.

Lost Love, Found
The beginning of Jaxon and Wilder's story is swoony. It's a jock meets brainiac; they fall in love. Told primarily from both POVs- Jaxon heads home during break, determined to tell his parents he's gay, and then we fast forward nine years. Wild has not really moved on and is now a published author; his book is the story of his and Jax's relationship; only names are changed, and their ending is now tragic.
I understand unrequited love, but nine years is a long time not to speak or see someone. Things don't go quite as Jax hoped they would when they reunited. I found it difficult to buy into the kindling of a relationship as Jax had a lot of issues to work through. I loved Wild. He should have made Jax work a heck of a lot harder.
My first time listening to Kirt Graves and I really enjoy his narration. Tim Paige did a great job as well.

OMG!!!! A Must Read!!!!
It’s very difficult to review this title without giving away any spoilers (I Won’t).
When searching for something new I came across this title on Audio. The author and narrators were both new to me.
Usually it’s a gamble as to if it will be good or not. I decided I would take a chance.
This book encapsulated everything I love in a book. Depth, Love, Longing, Slow Burn, Finding Oneself, Courage, Heat, and a HEA.
I was in no way prepared how good and engrossed I would become. It drew me in early on and left me speechless and yes I’ll admit the last hour flayed my heart WIDE open. I’m usually not one to cry at books. I’ll shed a few tears every now and again.
However the last hour left my sobbing. Once my tears started to fall there were no stopping them. I was ugly crying and had to pause it to compose myself.
This Author, This Book, and the Two Narrators were phenomenal. Once finished I immediately headed over to Amazon and purchased the paperback. It was a must!
FIVE STARS across the board.

A wild telling of an old story
I enjoyed the two voiced narrative, splitting the story between Wilder and Jax expanded the tale. For me, the story started out predictable and had little in the way of surprise. Kirt Graves, Tim Paige do a great job bringing the characters to life.

Emotional and heart warming story packed with lots of chemistry and steam.
Wilder and Jax’s story is heartbreakingly beautiful and a well win HEA.
This as more than a coming out story. It’s about love and acceptance, devotion and the sacrifices made, about change and the relevance of some many facets of life.
My first book by AM Johnson and I’m already a fan of her story telling.
Narrators did a stellar performance.

Liked one narrator but the other? Not so much...🙁
Well, I enjoyed it but didn't really connect with Tim Paige, one of the narrators, which was pretty annoying as his character was one of the MC's and the story was in dual POV. He had what I would call a deep Southern drawl, and the sound for his recording wasn't always that brilliant. Kirt Graves was good as usual, and his Southern accent was higher pitched, so wasn't as difficult to understand. Does Tim Paige really have a Southern drawl?? No idea, but I do remember he was the main reason I didn't finish the audio for Without You by Marley Valentine. He may well be a perfectly nice chap 😉, but his narrations are a no-no for me in future I'm afraid. 4 stars.
***Book Review***
4.5 stars from me. My third A.M. Johnson read, and strangely enough, I preferred her M/F sequel story Seven Shades of You to Let There Be Light. There is a lot of love in her reads, and this particular story is no exception.
We have a wonderful second chances read, due to the dreadful events that occurred in Jackson [Jax]'s life. I'm honestly not sure why he didn't get in touch with Wilder though to at least explain his predicament...do we treat that as non-communication? I suppose so, but they were obviously made for one another - the love jumped off the page at you, and thoroughly deserved their HEA. Yes, there were some characters that were complete muppets, bigoted and backward in their views, but I didn't concentrate on them, I gave my full attention to Jax, Wild and Jason [Jax's brother, and the main reason Jax did what he did].
I understand that Anders will be getting a story of his own in due course, and I just LOVED little Gandalf, Rosie and the email/text convos between Wild and Jax...June, Gwen and Ethan weren't too shabby either.

Despite the drama, I loved this!
“Wilder,” she said in a tone that made me feel like I was five years old. “You just love to create your own drama, don’t you?”
Wilder and Jax are secret lovers until Jax ghosts Wilder and never makes contact again. Years later, still hurt and needing to process, Wilder writes a best-selling novel about the affair and Jax dares to reach out. I liked a lot about this epic second-chances romance: Jax’s small-town, religious, and family obligations that have stifled him for years; Wilder’s dissatisfaction with anyone since Jax; their email exchanges; and the wonderful audio narrators (Kirt Graves as Wilder and Tim Paige as Jax). I felt frustrated by Wilder at times, he manufactured unnecessary drama, but I didn’t hold it against him - some people are just built that way. Overall, a great story with a very satisfying epilogue. I like that this whole series centres around novelists and publishers, it’s a great theme!

Love so much!
I loved this book so much! we were taken on an amazing journey with two people who had to really work hard to make their lives better and to make their love work (no stupid magic-fixes or sex-solves-everything crap). I also loved how fully fleshed out the side characters were, I could really sympathise with Ethan and Anders and hope the best for them- no useless spot-filler characters in this book! the southern element was also fantastic. the performance was brilliant and I loved the accents (I'm a sucker for southern accents)
