The fourth and final book in the fabulously funny Alcatraz Smedry series! Alcatraz Smedry is on a mission to save the day! In his final adventure in the series by best-selling adult fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson, Alcatraz has a lot to prove and, as always, little time in which to do it!
Fantastic 4th addition to this series.... I love the new characters that are added here, and i love how damn annoying Alcatraz could be.... He could be really annoying sometimes, when you start the book, don't worry regarding the chapters' numbers.. I had to go back to make sure i didn't skip a chapter by mistake, don't do that... just go ahead!!!
Alcatraz is put in a new place with huge responsibilities, which was a great change, and gets to discover some truths regarding his family.... some are really funny!!!
Get it and enjoy.

Alcatraz continues this series with this story through the world of evil librarians and asundry characters. As always this book as all in this series is funny and has lots of good quotes in it. Brandon Sanders is great at this ironic, iconic and unforgettable weaving of Science Fiction and humor. AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY
Using the word Stupid repeatedly in a Young Adult Novel ... NOT COOL
Self Esteme is very important. Branding a "hero" as considering himself stupid?
Yeah, made me cringe.
To say, "I am not a nice person"; that's entirely ok. We should all drive to be better.
Acknowledgement that you should be better? That's positive.
Overall a good read. Interesting mindspace, this Brandon Sanderson!
wonderfully unconventional magic/technology/questionable history story. Brandon Sanderson always does a great job. Always great stories with unique twist in plots and magic that is not something dumb or over used like many fantasy based stuff like witches, goblins, or Disney like princesses and stuff. He writes good stuff. Now go read all his books.
fun humorous boisterous story. I have read all of Sanderson's other books and stories. I left this series out because it was written for the younger audience. to my delight this series is as much fun as anything else I have read from Sanderson. wittybanter with a lively world of magic and technology. fascinating! the reader is highly skilled and helps to make the world and the humor believable.
Alcatraz tells us he is going to lie and then I believe what he says anyways. He tries to convince me how terrible he truly is, but I still cheer him on. His relatives are wonderfully zany. I love all the asides and odd chapters the author throws in and the ending pages. Sanderson knows his audience. I read his Mistborn books first and knew my son would enjoy listening to these books. I am chuckling right along with him.
I'm off to buy the next book in this "trilogy" that is going on five books now, not that I am complaining. I will happily buy as many Alcatraz books as Sanderson is willing to write. They are that enjoyable.
This is a really great book! It's good for all ages and I have only ONE thing to change! More puns. 🤣
Any additional comments?
Now that I understand more of how the books are going I enjoyed this more, plus my grandkids and I had a lot of fun conversations about it, which made it so much fun. It moved along well, kept me interested, humor was fun and creative, lots of teasers about what is coming, good fun listen
The story was excellent and exciting. The recording was very high quality and enjoyable to listen to
The synopsis of the novel says this is the final installment. Then I am totally disappointed because no series should end like this and I will give the caveat of do not start the series.
When comparing this with the first three novels, this was slightly painful. Sanderson was trying too hard to be funny and it detracted from the rhythm of the reading. Alcatraz's monologues were painful. But the story was still enjoyable.
I know this is a kid's novel, but 13 year olds being in love, no way. Everytime the story alludes to romantic feelings between Alcatraz and Bastille, I cringe.
