Outstanding training protocol

Obviously this book is for auditory learners at intermediate to elite training levels. However this training protocol is simple enough for the curious beginner who is willing to research proper form and technique elsewhere. There are no PDFs or videos on training techniques

Content is useful but too long for what it wants to transmit

It's a good buy, the workout is solid.

Content is useful but takes too long to get to the point, it could be summarized in 15min.

The review is highly personal, I really don't care much about the motivational psychology and narrative the author fills the blanks with, however the spin he puts on the narrative performance with the accent and bravado is hilarious and entertaining.

Great book, great program!

I love a book read by the author. Listening to this feels like being coached by Pavel himself. I've been lifting weights for 15+ years and this program is making me both stronger and leaner. I never understood how awesome kettlebells are until I started this. they really are didn't and in many ways better. I highly recommend this book. Pavel has a great sense of humor and a casual writing style that I really like. He's effective, entertaining and funny.

Life changing

When Pavel says "power to the people," he means it. I recommend this book to anyone interested in strength, durability, and overall health...but more importantly, it is a practical lesson on the Eastern philosophy of optimal challenge. The results are impressive, but what is truly life-changing is how easily they can be obtained. Gone is the mantra of "no pain, no gain." Pavel showed me how to get strong the easy way, and ever since I have been applying these principles to everything in my life. Strength to you!

Pavelisms

Hey, it's Pavel, so of course the performance is going to be 5 stars. This is the reason I bought the audiobook vs. the printed version, although someday I may buy the paperback as a companion. Female listeners may be turned off by how macho his writing is, but you have to understand he comes from an elite military background and trains elite level fighters / warriors — not much else more masculine than that. If you can't handle it, stick to your yoga and pilates.

Most important takeaway was the mindset towards training, strength and endurance vs. the actual moves and S&S program itself. Many of the movements can be found online in video form which is superior than print, but the mindset, rationale and tried and tested research behind why the Kettlebell is an "extreme handheld gym" or "loaded Yoga" is invaluable.

Very interesting.

While there's some fantastic information in here and it's reinvigorated my love for kettlebell training and changed the way I structure my programming, Pavel says the word "sissy" almost as often as he says "kettlebell" and complains about the apparent "feminization of men" which is really off-putting. If you can ignore the misogynistic meathead tough guy tone, there are some real gems to be found here. Definitely a must-listen for anyone interested in strength training.

Different but so so valuable

Enjoy it for being different. Think kettlebell, think strength. A great way to approach any staleness in your physical capabilities with a simple approach and measures.
