Story
My name is Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman, and I am a car mechanic. And a coyote shapeshifter. And the mate of the Alpha of the Columbia Basin werewolf pack. Even so, none of that would have gotten me into trouble if, a few months ago, I hadn’t stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who lived in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground.

There are no words to express how much I loved this book!
I have adored every Mercy book, but this one was the best one yet. It was absolutely fantastic. Patricia Briggs is an amazingly talented author. You really can't go wrong with a Patricia Briggs book.
The narrator, Lorelei King is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to. She preformed this book so beautifully. She can do the snarky, sexy, funny, touching, and gut wrenching roles this book calls for incredibly well. Plus she does a sexy male voice that is like chocolate melting on the tip of your tongue! This is an incredible blend of amazing author and narrator that makes the audiobook version so...well there are no words.
Happy listening!

The weakest from the series
Its not bad but also not too good. I never felt that the story really took off. It felt like the whole book was made from the introduction and then the end. No middle , no main story. It's too bad because I really waited for this book.

Another Awesome Mercy adventure!!
This was another awesome addition to the Mercy Thompson series! I can never get tired of these stories, they are full of action, suspense, magic, and lots of "pack politics." I love how Adam and Mercy work together as a team, they are the perfect Alpha leaders. We are introduced to new and interesting characters.
As usual, The Gray Lords are up to their games, and Mercy and the pack find themselves in the middle of the Fae conflict, but they will not back down. They have declared to protect their territory and the boy who escaped from the Fae.
If you are a Mercy Thompson Fan, you will definitely want to add this story to your collection.
This story was well worth the credit, and the time spent listening to the story.

Mercy at her best
As with all the other Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson Series books, I loved this one. WHAT AN IMAGINATION. Wait... It's not real? Ugh! Patricia sure knows how to bring you in and keep you there. I couldn't put this one down until it was finished and then I still wanted more. Isn't that what a good author does? Patricia Briggs sure knows how to do that. Mercy and Adam are great characters, along with all the other background characters and the new ones she brings in with each book. The magic and abilities are the coolest. Patricia built the character of the new kid/guy, Aiden, with such detail, that you could really see him in your mind when he slapped Jessie on the butt. Mercy is so very good with words in critical situations as well as being an advisor to the pack as well as the other characters. She doesn't do everything based on feeling, she has logic and facts to back up her decisions. Even if they are not popular with the pack or anyone else. However, to have someone like Adam always backing her up, is awesome. The story just goes on and on and each one is fresh and new. Can't wait to read the next one. Bring it on Ms. Briggs.

You Know What They Say About Werewolves
Mercy Thompson is at it again with her sexy alpha werewolf husband, the Columbia Basin Pack including Joel the Tibicena, Jesse, Zee,Tad, Bran, an uncharacteristically humorous Charles, pets Medea & Cookie, and the walking stick. There are also two new characters, human teenager Aiden and werewolf Sherwood Post. I really hope to see more of them in future books, especially Sherwood. Thomas and Margaret from a Shifting Shadows short story also make an appearance along with numerous many-motive Fae.
To say Mercy is at is again is not fair, it is actually the Fae Grey Lords from the Walla Walla Reservation who are up to mischief and mayhem.
Make sure to keep an ear out for Mercy's characteristic snark, wonderful quotes from your favorites books and movies (my favorite was from the Princess Bride), and essential oils.
Lorelei King as always brings the story and all the characters to life so much so that I swear I am actually in the Tri-Cities as a participating story member.
The cover art by Daniel Dos Santos for this book is outstanding with Joel the Tibicena standing behind Mercy. It is my favorite cover from the series thus far.
Thank you Patricia Briggs for bringing us well written and endearing stories and characters. Your books are a joy to read and revisit often.
Nudge.... (see the end of Chapter 1).

Not as good as others
I must admit, I have enjoyed the whole Mercy Thompson series, as well as Alpha and Omega.
When this book came out I bought it but the story seems a little weak and there was a lot more conversation by Mercy and a lot less humor. I was a little disappointed. Having said that I listen to it all the way to the end and will look forward to the next book… I think we have new characters to look forward to.

Any additional comments?
I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole series. My one complaint is that several of the characters were missing their usual voices. Lorelei King is an awesome narrator who brings depth and interest to each of the characters, both male and female. The voices and accents have been consistent through the whole series until this book, where they suddenly were forgotten. If you haven't followed the whole series, you may not notice but it is disconcerting when a certain characters suddenly have different voices and therefor personalities. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. I am still looking forward to the next book in the series.

Overall good, but final part distrubing
There is a buildup where Aidan is abused and then has to return to the abuser's land for the higher good. The issue is, knowing how the abuser had offed his fellow mates, and how unpredictable she was, he easily agreed to return after reverse psychology "I suppose you won't be returning...". It's not uncommon for the abused to identify with their toxic parents or overlook/dissociate from it. Other than that, it was a good read. I preferred the previous one where Coyote and Laughing Dog were introduced. I do hope they come back.

Awesome book, narration a little off.
Always love Patricia Briggs. I'm totally addicted to her books, and always feel kind of angry that she expects us to survive on only one new book per year. Really like Lorelei King, but it kinda threw me off when she used such a different voice for Wolf and changed the pronunciation of a few names.

Excellent as always
Would you listen to Fire Touched again? Why?
I will listen to this book again. I always listen to good books twice. I seem to gain more detail from the second listen.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fire Touched?
Not an action sequence it was the scene when Adam and Mercy's pack are disavowed by the leader of all the Werewolf packs - by the man who raised Mercy. I was stunned as were Mercy and Adam.
Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favourite?
I love the way Lorelei portrays Adam. Patricia has written a rounded character and Lorelei's performance helps in the development.
Lorelei Kings shows a wide selection of very stable voices an excellent narrator.
Any additional comments?
The stage is set for more stories. I love the fact that Adam and Mercy have a loving and stable marriage which strengthens the plot lines. In this story they offer protection to a child who had been abducted by the fae with consequences.
I will keep my eyes open for the next book in the series.

Recording seemed a bit clipped in places. Story great as usual. First time I have listened to this reader, as she is American she had trouble with the UK accent for Ben, but otherwise no complaints. Wonderful!
Time passed too fast 😂! I really like Mercy Thompson Books so when i decided to listen to the last book out (i think) it was rather daunting. I feared they the voices would wayy more différent than in my head (Adam's voice was definitely not what i hope but it's alright since it comes from a woman voice) but it was amazing! I really enjoyed it almost more than reading the books itself (almost, because really. Reading books it's a whole new world opening)

The stories of Mercedes and the werewolves have never failed to delight me. Fire Touched is good on its own merit, but will make more sense of you have read the previous books in the series. fantastic book. absolute must read
i love Mercy stories. they are realistic paranormal books that deal in real life issues but then it is twisted by the paranormal. this book is no exception. it twists and turns as you go through the emotional turmoil following the characters of the book. but start from book 1. even though they are mostly standalones. the characters grow and expand from book to book
