Vivid historical fiction

An essential experience
These two books (The winds of war & War and remembrance) have formed one of the most remarkable literary experiences of my life. One does not "enjoy" books such as these, one grows as a person through their presence. The historical accuracy, framed by a convincing human drama, is impressive. Herman Wouk must go down as one of the world's greatest authors. Kevin Pariseau's performance is well, beyond superb, simply stunning. I have returned several books to Audible because they were in mind, not worth retaining. Herman Wouk's masterpieces will forever remain on my shelves.

Definitely, You learn so much from it and it is so well written.
What was one of the most memorable moments of War and Remembrance?
There are too many to list. I loved the story of the Henry family.
Which scene was your favorite?
Possibly the ending, but I wanted it to go on and on.

I took 2.5 month listening to both of the novels. It should be required reading so it doesn't happen again.

This Audible Version Is Fabulous
These are two of my top five favorite books. I have them in hardback, audio disc and Audible. It is extremely well read and takes you to the place where it is happening. The characters come to life for me and I hate to have it end. As they seem real to me, I wish I could know how the rest of their lives went on. I may just have to start over with Winds of War!

Both War and Remembrance totally over a hundred hours is incredibly narrated by kevin Pariseau. The adherence to historical fact by Herman Wouk is near perfection.

This book tells the story of a military family through the pre war years and then through WWII. The battles are real, the incidents are real.

Wow!
Loved it, I learned more of the history then I ever learned in school. Having been a black shoe sailor, I was drawn into all of the naval imagery and story.
