Publisher's Summary

At 31, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At 29, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle.

Never marry for status

Throughly loved this book, proves love wins vs facades. To many marry for comfort or status and it is probably why our divorce rate is so high in America. A true love is so hard to find, your one true love that makes you feel complete. Well written, really hits home and makes me yearn to love and be loved like that!

Dragging in the end

The present part of the story where they were already old and in the hospital was too dragging. In my opinion it shouldn't have been elaborated. And the part where they were still young and very much in love was too short. At the end, they should have just been grateful that they grew as old as they did. And in reality, at that age, their focus and memories should be about their kids and grandchildren and not on their love story. Too cheesy for an old couple.

Relatable romance to anyone at any age

What about Barry Bostwick’s performance did you like?

Absolutely LOVE Barry Bostwick's performance!

Any additional comments?

Gracefully written. Outstanding narrator. This romantic love story makes my heart aches for the unfortunate lovers and keeps me awake while driving hours long. The love story is so real because the characters are ordinary people. I plan to read every book written by Nicholas Sparks and this is only my 2nd one.
