One wintry night, he decides to escape the clutches of his studio apartment in the heart of Cape Town and venture out to find the darkest bar he can. same old same old

i think I have read this story a few hundred times in my life. Very clichéd, but it is well written and the narrator has a wonderful voice. If I had read it instead of listened to it I probably would have quit at Chapter One but the audible experience made it worth listening to
