Publisher's summary

For 18 years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows - her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.

Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm’s way. It has always been easy - until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time Mia and Zach leave the house, she worries about them. On a hot summer’s night her worst fears are realized. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget... or the courage to forgive.Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

Enjoyable read/listen, but not as good as a Winter Garden

This is the second book I've 'read' by Kristin Hannah, and I enjoyed the story, although there were a few overly predictable elements that impacted my rating. It wasn't as complex and intriguing as Winter Garden, but overall it was easy to read in spite of the sad situations of the characters.

Love this book!

I have read this book a few times over the years and when I downloaded Audible I couldn’t help but get this book. What a difference experience it is listening. I loved it! Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors and this is my favorite of most the books I have read of hers. There are still a few I haven’t read yet. I can’t wait to start my next book by her.

Great story

Very good book, although predictable story line. You’ll need some Kleenex when listening to this one.

highly reccomend

I really loved this book. the story is so great I wish they'd make in into a movie. rhe only thing that's annoying about it was that like 40% of the time you are listening to the mothers thoughts and it got to the point where I wanted to turn off the book, but I had to know what happened to the other characters and it's so worth it. and although you are hearing the mothers thoughts there is a point to it because it will circle back around and you'll say "okay the story couldn't have been told as well without her extreme perspective."

Kept me

Good plot. Addressed dangers in today's society. Having lost a child I knew the insanity of grief
