Publisher's Summary

Roadkill...

A funny thing happened to Roger and Savanna Aldiss on the Interstate - they hit a dinosaur. But that's nothing compared to what awaits them down the road. For something is at work to reverse time itself, something which makes the clouds boil, glowing with strange lights, and ancient trees to appear out of nowhere. Something against which Roger, Savanna, a motorcycle gang, and others will make their final stand. Prehistory lives as ferocious dinosaurs run amok! Science-fiction and horror fans (and especially B-movie lovers) will enjoy this gory, action-packed thriller in the tradition of Roger Corman and George Romero.

Fun.

Rodger and Savannah are travelling along the interstate when they enter a storm. This storm is weird though and they know they need to find shelter soon. As they look, they hit something, an animal of some sort. Savannah recognises it, but it can't be what she thinks, because they are extinct!! When the thing attacks her husband she kills it and drives to the first place she sees to get help, a diner. While in the diner, the people inside realise that Dinosaurs are roaming around and extremely weird things are happening. Just what is going on?

This is a short listen and as such suffers a little with the character development and the plot. The plot is fast paced and entertaining but it just doesn't make much sense and really needs to be expanded upon. I felt like that if the book was a little longer, it would have been great! Same with the characters, I didn't connect with any of them nor did I really care what happened them.

Saying that, it was still a fun listen. The action starts right from the get go and continues the whole way through. Its an intriguing idea and I would love to see another book!!

The narrator did a good job with this. He portrayed the feelings and emotions really well and gave life to some of the characters. I will have to check out more by him.

I was voluntarily provided this audiobook for free from the author, narrator, or publisher. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Fun and just the right length

You have to love a book about dinosaurs and bikers. The other reviews are spot on about the flashback and pace of the book. However, I would also recommend this book because it is fun, exciting, and just the right length. Some books have really great stories but drag on in sections that make the book look like an EKG with excitement and downtime. This book was fun but did not keep going and going just to fill in pages. The narrator has a great voice that adds to the story and seems to fit right into the story like it's 100% natural. This could very well be one of those books that gets a very loyal following.

Short but fun ride!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was like Jurassic Park but on a much bigger scale (and much more gory). I really enjoyed it. I wish the dinopocalypse reason would have been explained, but that wasn't a big deal on this one. If you want a short, exciting listen, this would be a good choice.

The story we all wanted to write as a child

It’s the story every little boy wanted to write as a child. Aliens have caused the end of the world as we know it, they have used dinosaurs to do it. A lone band of bikers and the people they hold in a fiber face off against these prehistoric beasts. So little boy checklist: aliens check, bikers check, dinosaurs check, end of the world check. Great stuff. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Bikers and dinosaurs and people, Oh my!

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This book was a lot of fun. At first, you don't have any idea of what's going on, the same as the characters. All any of you know is that there's been some catastrophe and things are going downhill fast. Then Roger and Savannah run into their first dinosaur and things go from bad to worse. This is a very short book, nice for a long car ride but well worth the trip. There's a lot of drama, some good humor and a lot of "wtf is going on?" but I enjoyed all of it. In such a short time you come to care for some of the characters, I even was upset when some didn't make it. Others I was very glad they didn't make it. I want to know what happened, why everything is going the way it is. Granted, Savannah's vision/dream probably does explain it but we don't know for sure. I want to find out what happens after, do the people survive going up against all the dinosaurs? I wish there was another book. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters alive, making the voices different enough that you don't have too much trouble figuring out who is talking. Overall, a fun quick book well worth a listen.

Man what a ride!

Here we have an exciting tongue-in-cheek horror tale of dinosaurs verses bikers! Yep, you heard me right; dinosaurs verses bikers! While this may sound silly, the writing is well done and the narrator brings the story to life. Our main pair of victims, err… characters Roger Aldiss and wife Savanna are driving home one night when they literally run across a… dinosaur! Not appreciating being road kill the dinosaur, a Velociraptor attacks! The sky turns black and the clouds boil as if in the midst of a tornado. Savanna dispatches the raptor, takes over driving, and makes for the near gas station. Within the station are an attendant, a traveling couple, and a group of bikers. The balance of this short story is a fast paced high octane rush for our survivors to escape the growing number of dinosaurs or become lunch! Why and how did this craziness happen? There is some speculation that we as a culture finally reaped what we have sewn. Perhaps this is true, but man what a ride! Flashback Was a Blast To Listen To

Flashback was an action-packed adventure from the start. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The storyline was good; apocalyptic-ish as well as noir-ish while having a realistic feel. The main characters, Roger and Savannah were likeable as well as the supporting extras.

While this is the first audiobook I've listened to by Wayne Kyle Spitzer it won't be the last. I have listened to Travis Baldree before and he is an exceptional narrator. He took this story to the next level. He was the perfect reader for this story. He really puts the listener into the story and gives it that extra element of excitement.

Flashback is an overall great listen and I hope there's a follow up. I'd reccomend giving this a listen.

Reverse Jurassic Park?

Savannah and Roger were strong characters to follow into this Twilight Zone. The bikers added drama, trauma, and dinosaurs scooby snacks!
It started off fast paced and by mid way, it tapered to a crawl. I restarted at chapter 10 at least a half dozen times!
My hat goes off to Roger’s pain level ...

Travis is an excellent narrator, which increased my desire to listen to this book.

Not bad for a short story, but it didn’t hold my attention and seemed longer than it was ...
