Publisher's Summary

The story of a remarkable friendship - told in a remarkable way. A story in which every woman will recognize herself...and her best friend

Jillian Lawton and Lesley Adamski. Two girls from very different backgrounds become best friends in the turbulent '60s, but their circumstances and choices - and their mistakes - take them in opposite directions. Lesley stays in their hometown. She marries young, living a life defined by the demands of small children, never enough money, and an unfaithful husband. Jill lives those years on a college campus shaken by the Vietnam War, and then as an idealistic young lawyer in New York City.

But they always remain friends.

Through the years and across the miles, Jill and Lesley confide everything to each other - every grief and joy. Because the quality of a friendship is the quality of a life.

Bonus Novella: Home to Honeymoon Harbor by JoAnn Ross

The rivalry between the Mannion and Harper families has divided them for over a century. Which is why, when John Mannion and Sara Harper fall in love, they become the small seaport town's very own Romeo and Juliet. But in Honeymoon Harbor, nothing - not even an infamous family feud - is a match for love.

Time and dates

While I didn’t dislike the storyline, the constant announcing of dates and time was really unnecessary. I almost quit listening Gabon several occasions, but thought I should try to listen since I paid for it. I would not be inclined to recommend this book. I have listened to many Debbie Macomber stories and have enjoyed them.

Best Debbie Macomber yet

What did you love best about Between Friends?

When it started I thought I wouldn't like it but within minutes I couldn't stop listening and it brought back so many memories. Although I love most all of her books this one captured my attention and drew me in more than any other.

What other book might you compare Between Friends to and why?

I love the other Debbie Macomber books and think anyone who reads this would like any of her others.

Have you listened to any of Amy Tallmadge’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am not sure but she did an amazing job!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the first death occurred, I felt it personally and was so moved

Any additional comments?

Reliving history was so much fun and sparked emotions of forgotten events and corresponded with the characters.

Best Friends

I loved the story line of this book but was not real impressed with the letter writing way of delivering the message. I guess I am old fashioned and like to just read the story as a performance.

Awkward for Audio

The story is told in letter and email form. It would have been fine to read; however, it made the audio book awkward. The storyline was enjoyable.

Good story of lifelong friendship

Enjoyed story however did not care for format of reading entire book of letters and later emails between the characters. It was a bit tedious when they would read a form reciting every blank, number, instruction... could have just said arrest warrant for Buck Knowles or college app for Lindy Knowles...

Very unusual way of writing!

The story line was good as usual, but the way of presenting was very
New! It took a capture or two to get used to it. The inter action was great once you understood the addresses and zip codes,
I was on a trip and someone else was driving so I could consintrate
All my attention on the story, I would order another book written in this same type book,,,I read all Debbie Macomber books

Overall a great listen...

The format was a bit tough to get used to, but once I did, it was quite enjoyable. Storyline was good (as are most all of Mrs. Macomber's), some predictability but also some unexpected turns that helped to hold interest. Some of the finer details of legal documents were a bit distracting, but sparse enough that it wasn't a complete turnoff. Overall, a great listen. I hadn't read this title prior to listening, and I am glad that I chose this book ☺

Style was odd

I wasn’t crazy about the style, the way it was written with the envelope being read, etc.

Unique style.

Unique style of written mostly in letters and journals. Was hard to get into the rhythm of the story. Some may love this way, but not my cup of tea. I love Robin Carr overall though and listened to almost all she wrote or I read the book. This one just wasn’t for me.
