Very engaging!

I found myself eager to need to take a car ride so I could keep listening to Maureen's story. I was shocked at the hardships she's faced, and it was very riveting the whole way through. I'm not a big Brady fan, but my curiosity paid off. I recommend this book if you like to hear about how others have overcome obstacles. She tells her story in a very honest, earnest way. Great!

Gripping

What made the experience of listening to Here's the Story the most enjoyable?

Maureen McCormick has a very nice voice - easy to listen to.

What about Maureen McCormick’s performance did you like?

She came across as being very sincere

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - it really was.

Any additional comments?

I'll be honest in saying that my primary interest in listening to this book was to hear about her days on the Brady Bunch. I, like a lot of guys back in the 70's, had a big crush on her (or more accurately - a crush on her character). What I didn't expect was how the emotional story of her family life had a grip on me from beginning to end. I found myself walking the dog a little longer and taking longer routes home to maximize my time listening to this book. That's when you know you're listening to a good audiobook. Though she had a huge drug problem and a couple of abortions - somehow I felt like she was still Marcia-like. It's hard to explain that statement - I think you'll have to listen to the book to see if you agree.

Find it unabridged.

Although I enjoyed many aspects of this book, I felt as though it was entirely too condensed. I can't give it a great rating because of this aspect. Her narration wasn't the greatest, but it was something I could look past. I recommend reading the unabridged version, perhaps the story will feel more complete. I was left wondering what was taken out.

A great story

This was a great book to listen too. Especially for those who are Brady Bunch fans, it is great to get to know another one of the "Brady Kids". Listening to some of the struggles and challenges Maureen has experienced in her life makes me realize what an amazing woman she is.

Frightening but so so beautiful

I never knew one person could go through so much and still be as strong like Maureen. This is a beautiful and terrifying story about strength and a constant battle with mental demons. You don't have to relate to everything that happened to be in awe of this story. And hearing Maureen use her own voice in this audio is what's truly magical of all things. Everyone needs to read this.

Thank You Maureen!

As a child growing up with the Brady Bunch I, like all girls, dreamed of being Marcia. It was by far my favorite show. I remember in the 5th or 6th grade as a project I took a poster board and cut out squares of the brady's as shown on the show's intro. I pasted each Brady kid on the poster. I remember it so well and was so proud of it. I wanted to have a family just like the Brady Bunch and when watching the show I felt transported into the land of "normalcy" that gave me a peaceful feeling of serenity. I felt like the Brady kids were my own siblings. The truth is I wanted to trade my family in for the Brady's because I felt like my family was a three ring circus. My dad was bi-polar and I grew up with a lot of shame, loneliness and fear. I was so surprised to learn about the problems Maureen grew up with because they are so similar to my situation. I was extremely moved by the book and cried after listening to it. To know that "Marcia" experienced some the same kind of sorrows and hardships that I had and made similar mistakes impacted me greatly. A heartfelt thank you to Maureen for sharing your story and touching my life. I wish you the best!!!

Her name is Maureen, not Marcia

I really enjoyed this story...all in all I found it less shocking than I thought it would be. Maureen fell into the same spiral as many child stars, drugs, sex, and family troubles. Truthfully the story has very little emphasis on her time as Marcia Brady and really focuses on her time after the Brady Bunch ended. It is a story about growing up, letting go, and surviving. I really enjoyed it.

Wow...I will never look at Marsha the same way

This book was difficult to listen to at times but it was a good story. I have never read "Greg Brady's" story but Maureen McCormicks was rough. She battled through a lot of tough times but being a fan of her's, I am glad that she did find some peace.

If you want tons of gossip about other celebrities, this isn't really the book. It does discuss the other Brady Bunch members but it stays true to being her story. Overall it was a good book but definitely a story I can only listen to once.

Excellent book

If you like celebrity bios, this is great. Maureen had a difficult life. She reads the audio book very well. I enjoyed it. It held my interest from beginning to end!
