Publisher's Summary

Zane’s erotic writing has captivated a legion of fans. Her previous short story collection, The Sex Chronicles: Shattering the Myth, not only became a best seller but also delivered fully on its promise—exploding the myth that men are more sexual in nature than women and that African American women are particularly inhibited. Now, this second volume of Sex Chronicles, Gettin’ Buck Wild, is Zane’s hottest collection yet. Smart, witty, and extremely sexy, with all-new characters and settings, these stories are tailored to women—but perfect for lovers to share.

Scenarios run the gamut from committed, monogamous couples looking to experiment to wild, single sisters who form a very unconventional sorority. You’ll meet a highly paid, multitasking career woman who gets her groove back in “When Opposites Attract”. You’ll take a ride with an adventurous couple that tries something new in “The Subway—a Quickie”. You’ll discover a new way of celebrating Christmas in “The Santa Claus”.

Spicing up real-life scenarios with over-the-top sexual fantasy, Zane gives listeners the best time they’ve ever had with an audiobook.

Zane is the New York Times best-selling author of, among others, Afterburn, The Heat Seekers, the Flava series, and Dear G-Spot. Her television series, Zane’s Sex Chronicles, is featured on Cinemax, and her best-selling novel Addicted has been adapted for a major motion picture. She is the publisher of Strebor Books, an imprint of Atria Books / Simon & Schuster, and lives in the Washington, DC, area with her family.

So bad I turned it off after 10 minutes

What disappointed you about Gettin’ Buck Wild?

I wasn't at all interested by the beginning of the story. It just seemed like not enough plot and just too unrealistic. What kind of woman allows a stranger into her home in the middle of the night? Even an escapist and unrealistic storyline should be engaging enough to make you want to listen to it, not search through audible.com for a different story.

Has Gettin’ Buck Wild turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes. Definitely won't be reading any more stories by this author and may consider other books in the genre.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Nicole Small?

Maybe. She wasn't horrible but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to another book she reads.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, it was a waste of money.

Sexual explicit

I believe I also have a healthy sexual appetite but, I couldn't get into the story line for all of the sexual encounters. I didn't complete the book. I gave up half way through. This was my first experience listening to the Zane book line.

Not for the prudish listener!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Zane was referred highly by many! However, I could not get through the VERY descriptive sexual performances. So detailed I could not find a true plot! Not for me....I asked for a refund of two books in a series.

What was most disappointing about Zane’s story?

Just a bit too seedy for my listening pleasure. I need a plot.

What didn’t you like about Nicole Small’s performance?

I could not focus.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Embarrassment!

Any additional comments?

I will not choose this author again!

Just wasn't feeling the stories

I don't really know where to start. Honestly, I don't understand the big whoop about Zane books. As a woman of color, I found some of the stories in this book truly offensive. One of the stories was just plain unhygienic. The way some of the men talked to some of the women was unacceptable and vice versa to me. The intimate scenes weren't what I expected. I'm a pretty common reader and these sex scenes had nothing appealing about them to me really. They weren't very detailed. I just don't get it.

Girl that voice sets these stories on fire!

I ordered this book because I was vibing with Nicole's voice. I knew she would do good things to this book and I was right. I hated to press pause when I got to work.

The stories in the book were so good. Not cheesy sex stories that feel like they were all the same. Individual accounts just as unique as every one of my own personal experiences.

Better read than listened to

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Bought this book as a joke tribute to the early 2000s when everyone was reading Zane.

Although the sex acts described in the would surely be interesting and perhaps titillating in real life, when listening to the audio version of the stories, you realize how poorly written the book is and nearly everything sounds corny x1000000.

Even if you were a hardcore Zane reader, the audio ruins the experience for you by highlighting the extremely basic narrational style of this book, and at a certain level of education, you couldn't possibly enjoy the reading. Story content, sure, great. Writing style, reminiscent of AR books in 6th grade.

Because the content and character juxtaposition is interesting, this book could be better enjoyed reading since readers do more skimming for poignant parts rather than every single word. The audio doesn't quite let you skim.

Also, she randomly moves from scandalous sex tales to sad stories of long lost lovers dying. Random AF. My friends were utterly confused halfway through the audiobook.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

More advanced writing style and word choices.

What does Nicole Small bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a voice that matches the "urban" tone of the characters.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. And confusion when she started telling stories of lovers dying or going to jail - "what kind of sex novel is this?"
