Publisher's summary

A telepath, an ex-cop, stolen diamonds, and a killer on the loose make for a deadly combination....

After his wife was murdered, Detective Jackson Roarke gave up his badge in grief. Two years later, her killer still roams free. When a chance meeting with another writer turns into something more, Jack is thrown back into the case. To save the life of his new love, Liv Corrigan, he must embrace the life he left behind and find his wife's murderer.

Descended from fairies and mages, writer Liv Corrigan has unique mental gifts, particularly the ability to read thoughts of those closest to her. When she meets Jack Roarke, afraid of another failed romance, she decides to keep her talents hidden. When a killer resurfaces and secrets come to light, she is targeted.

Injured, Jack retreats with Liv to his house under armed guard. But with Liv’s mysteries rapidly coming unraveled, a diamond-thief and killer to stop, and passion in the air, the safe house is anything but safe for their hearts!

Over too quick!

This book hit me right in the feels! With who this book is dedicated to...it changed my whole perspective on this book, making me not want to stop listening! The story itself was fun, unique and there were some twists in there I did not see coming, which doesn't usually happen with me. I loved the narration duet! I have listened to many of Rhett's books, who always does a fantastic job! Though I have never had any issue with any of Rhett's female voices, I have seen on some reviews where some people wish there was a woman to read the female parts. Well, here she is! This was my first with Corinne Bachaud. I believe she nailed it! She does amazing at speaking with the "hidden" Irish accent. All of her accents where spot on! This whole work was written and preformed, perfectly! Can't wait for the next books!

YA Suspense Romance + Cops & Fae

Parents- PG13 geared for YA to adult
Language- some/mild and no f-bombs
Violence- PG13- shootings, some bloody scenes but nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- PG13 - Desires, bedroom staging, kissing, a few sex scenes with minimal lead up to detail- kissing and falling into bed then cue door closing

This story bounces around between characters and the Fae elemental characters making it a bit tricky to follow at first but further into the story you get used to it and the mix of time differences, fae, and real world all starts making since. Definitely a interesting and fun mash up of mystery/cop suspense + romance + fae/paranormal based story. This does need more presence of mind to listen to to follow the story (not the best to try to multitask with).

Narrators- Feels like it's been slowed down. The narrators are both good, the male narrator has a deep and rich voice that is a pretty strong contrast to the female- not a bad thing but does take a little getting use to. The main problem is the speed feels way off once you fix the speed it's much better. I felt like normal speech is found at around 1.45x speed.

Jack & Liv

This was a unique style of story and I enjoyed the difference in my normal listen. It had action and twists that kept the story flowing fast and was over before you knew it. The narrators did a great job.

Bad reading

I couldn’t get passed the man’s voice for 30 seconds. Terrible voice. Turned me off immediately.
