Publisher's Summary

Even the broken, through love, can find grace...

Secrets never stay hidden. The burden of guilt never lifts from the heart. Born and raised in The Order of David, Sister Phebe knows nothing but cult life. Head of the Sacred Sisters of New Zion, Phebe was groomed from childhood for one purpose: to seduce. Prized as a harlot, as a New Zion whore, Phebe is taken from the doomed cult by Meister, the notorious leader of the Aryan Brotherhood. Taken as his possession. Taken to be the woman who will obey his every sexual demand. Under his heavy hand, Phebe finds herself in a place much worse than she could ever have imagined... with absolutely no one to help. And no glimpse of hope.

Xavier ‘AK’ Deyes is content with his life as Sergeant-At-Arms of the Hades Hangmen. Leader of the infamous ‘Psycho Trio’ and ex-special ops sniper, AK knows how to fight. Experienced in warfare and schooled in military operations, AK is vital to the Hangmen. When his Vice President needs help retrieving his missing sister-in-law, Phebe, from a Klan-funded trafficking ring, AK volunteers to go in. AK remembers the red-head from New Zion. Remembers everything about her from the single time they met - her red hair, blue eyes, and freckled face. But when he finds her, heavily drugged and under Meister’s control, her sorry condition causes him to remember more than the beautiful woman he once tied to a tree. Saving Phebe forces hidden demons from his past to return. A past he can never move on from, no matter how hard he tries.

As AK fights to help Phebe, and in turn she strives to help him, they realize their secret sins will never leave them alone. Kindred broken souls, they realize the only way they can be rid of their ghosts is to face them together and try to find peace. Despair soon turns to hope, and damaged hearts soon start to heal. But when their deep, painful scars resurface, becoming too much to bear, the time comes when they must make a heavy choice: stay forever damned; or together, find grace.

Dark Contemporary Romance that contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and very mature topics. Recommended for age 18 and over.

This series is incredible

Waiting a year for this book to come out on audio, and it is so worth the wait! Tillie Cole continues her Hades Hangmen series with AK's story as he goes in search of Lilah's sister, Phebe. When Phebe is taken at the end of Deep Redemption, it is clear the Hangmen are going to go after her, but they first must find out where she is. With their vast reach and multitudes of skills, these men retrieve the very messed up woman. AK has a definite draw to her, and takes her in to help her adjust to civilization. With insights to each other and disastrous histories to overcome, these two broken souls are able to piece each other back together. Cole has a way of writing a very complex story, investing your heart into each character, so much so when a cameo of one like Flame comes up, a feeling of familiarity immediately comes through. The story is very visual, with the book coming to life as you listen. This captivating listen including substance abuse, rape, human trafficking and PTSD as well as the continuing back story of New Zion is nothing short of amazing, and I can't wait(even if it is another year) for the next book!

The four narrators of this book do an amazing job. I am so happy Douglas Berger comes in with the chapters from Flame's POV, keeping him as we have gotten to know him. Patrick Garrett as AK does a wonderful job, this character has many layers and Garrett is able to give each one the inflection necessary for each one. Phebe is a broken woman with a devastating past, and Emily Cauldwell brings out her feelings to the surface. Aaron Sinn gives a short narration of Asher, hoping to hear more of him, as this character is sure to have an amazing story to go with him.

😭❤

Am I alone in hearing Hagrid saying, "You're a wizard Harry!" Whenever one of these books mentions a grand wizard? 🤣
AK and Phebe are hot af! They're so good for each other's healing. ❤ All the sick sh*t Phebe went through and AK's story is rough. 😔 Have tissues ready.
Trigger warning for hate speech, racism, rape (drug induced/public), abuse, pedophilia...🤬 drug addiction, alcoholism.

🌻This whole series is heart wrenching 🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas 🌻🌻🌻🌻

This is the second time I’ve listened to this series; it wasn’t any easier. Many of These characters had been through living hell; especially the women.

The theme, of this series seemed to be about the ability of people to overcome, the absolute worst, adversity.

“Trigger warnings”
This series contains a 1% MC, the KKK and radical religious cult. There is physical, mental and sexual abuse against women and young girls. There is sex trafficking, forced drug dependence incest and more. There were vivid descriptions of extreme violence, including mutilation. There was rape against girls, women and even young boys. There were also references to PTSD and flashbacks. In other words, this series would not be for the faint of heart. It would also be emotionally taxing for a sensitive soul. Be prepared to shed lots of tears!

It also seems like the series was not really complete. The last book ended with an intro to another story. It’s really too bad that, if there were more books, they are not available on audible.

The series is well written and the narration is mostly excellent. It is definitely worth the credits, as long as a reader/listener can handle the difficult subject matter.

Two broken souls find each other

I liked this book but I didn't love it. Phebe has been mentioned in the prior book and its clear that she was ride or die for the Prophet. After all, she was trained to be a seductress since she was 10yrs old. After the Hangmen of Hades destroyed the Order of David, Phebe went from being the Head of the Sacred Sisters to now a drug addicted sex slave to Meister, leader of the Aryan Brotherhood.

When Xavier ‘AK’ Deyes and his Hangmen brother try to rescue more of Sisters who were sold from the New Zion to the Aryan Brotherhood, the find Phebe completely captures his attention. First he remembered her from their first interaction when he tied her to a tree and second, he condition reminds him of his past. AK decides he must help Phebe get clean and reclaim her life. Little did he know by helping her work through her pain, he would also be working through his own pain.

My main issue is that they are so messed up individually that jumping right into a relationship didn't make sense. I also didn't really feel their chemistry as much as some of the other couples. They redeemed each other but I didn't think that there was enough individual healing for each person. A lot happened and not enough space to process before AK and Phebe jumped into their HEA journey.

CWAZY! Like Jar Jar Binks says it...

I've been obsessed with the Hades Hangmen since I started book one but this one didn't quite hit like the previous four did. Don't get me wrong, I loved AK so much. Getting his backstory made this book for me. I knew Flame couldn't be the only one in the psycho trio with more issues than not.

I think the intensity I have grown to love for this series wasn't quite there with this one and I think I know why. It was the narration; it was a bit lacking for me this time. I try not to comment negatively on narration because I don't know anything about it, but I felt like it was hastily put together. I noticed several slip ups with the narration throughout this book and I should have switched to eyeball reading but I didn't.

Phebe was the first sister that came from the order who wasn't like the others. She had seen the world. She knew what to expect for the most part when it came to the outside world but with her past weighing her down it made it difficult to live her life outside. Her struggles broke my heart and that was before we got the truth of what happened to her when she was younger. For living the way, she had been for what I would guess is close to 15 years I am amazed she survived.

The way AK was with Phebe was not what I was expecting. He was the kindest of the Hangmen with the way he was there for her even in the early days of their courtship.

I will be continuing on with this series, I just might mix it up and eyeball read the next one depending on who is going to be doing the narration.

really good read

I figured AK had some dark secrets from serving, but the ordeal with his brother was epic. My heart goes out to all veterans that come back damaged, but at least they come back. Phoebe was strong given everything she endured. Finding her kid was heartwarming too.

Dang, I didn’t think it was possible but I think Phebe’s story was even more heart breaking than all the others. Each of these books is dark but so much has happened to Phebe that I was just shocked, I think it made it worse because she believed in the order so much and gladly followed that path for so long. Everything happened to “the cursed” to help redeem their souls and as punishment but pretty much the same was done to Phebe but it was wrapped up as a blessing and her duty to help the order grow. And that is just the stuff that happened at the cult, don’t even get me started on the gut churning events with Meister! AK was a surprise for me. I think because he is part of the Psycho Trio I was expecting a story like Flames, but AK’s story, while heartbreaking seemed much more relatable for me. AK was the perfect hero for Phebe; he didn’t break down after everything that happened to her, he supported her and helped her stand strong. Patrick Garrett and Emily Cauldwell did a good job narrating such a tough story. There were moments when Patrick’s voice for Phebe would grate on me, but it was easily over looked.

This series keeps getting better and better

I'm a massive fan of this series and love the Hangmen, I read this when it was first released so knew I was going to love this audible version of AK and Phebe and I wasn't wrong as Patrick Garrett, Emily Cauldwell, Douglas Berger & Aaron Sinn all did a fantastic job of narrating a story filled with difficult subject matters (rape, racism, addiction etc).

This like other books in the series is extremely dark and graphic in places, but its serves it purpose.

Can't wait until the next book in the series is released on audible.

Brilliant!

Damnable Grace is book 5 in the Hades Hangmen series. It's dark, harrowing, and heart breaking at times but when the Hangmen love they love hard and they protect their own. A brilliant series!

Breathtaking

This Hades Hangmen novel is the breathtaking story of Phebe and Xavier ‘AK’ Deyes. It is a heartbreaking story of loss and betrayal the two share although through differing experiences they have ended up in the same place feeling the same things both putting on false facades to hide their pain from the world. Both understanding the other on a level no one else ever has or will and through this shared understanding redemption calls if only they can make it to it. This novel is very graphic and not for the faint of heart and although at times is hard to stomach because of it there is also moments of intense tenderness and the roller coaster of emotions experienced make this a book very much worth the effort and highly enjoyable. An insanely well written book.

absolutely brutal

tillie cole writes some brutal in your face plots. a glimpse into the ugly side of the world.
phoebe didn't do it for me, much like her sister lilah. who didn't do it at all for me.
and for a VP of a hangman MC Ky is a dumbass..for reasons that come to light in this book.
he's my least fave hero...but AK..he's awesomeness encompassed.
again its a dark , gritty, brutal story...like the others. ...but I loved it. now I have to wait for audible to get a move on😔😔
the other thing is I missed vikings deep, raspy style voice, in this book it's exactly the opposite. was hard to feel.
so I guess I missed Mr Harding.
