Excellent Performance, Great Book

There are a LOT of characters to keep track of and that can sometimes make it hard for people bad with names to keep things straight. the author is pretty good at giving you clues which is nice, but the performer always impresses me with his ability to give everyone including, and especially the bots. It breathes life into each character and makes them almost whole. Wish I could see an artist's rendition of the characters in high fidelity. My imagination runs wild, influencing how each bot might look. For instance, in my head, for some reason Sally seems to be shaped very speak like an upside down tear drop with a head and a hover body, even though I have no reason for it she seems to be very matrony like a robot Mary Poppins but in a bot form. Tax on the other hand seems like he would be more boxy, however, and would have a looseness about him that could be mistaken for lose firing parts but really speaks more to his ability.... I don't know where they're coming from but between the writing and narration this is the kind of thing I come up with.

That being said cliffhangers are harsh and while the book ended satisfactorily it's not a great ending. I have the next two in print but will wait. I live the writing style, the fact that everyone 'says' stuff every time in the dialogs is interesting as some writers will leave off who is saying something if there are day only two people speaking to help the flow, since the performer gives so much life to the characters they could almost be omitted. the nice thing is the performer gets into a particular cadence with it and it flies very well. it only gets bad during staccato responses.

The growing complexity

Having listened through this far, I am anxious to see where the story goes. The interest generated has keep me listening while ignoring history books.

still fun

thoroughly enjoyed this book package. books eight and nine. still going strong, still a lot of fun. world building continues at a much slower pace, as they expand out and explore. looking forward to the next books. recommended.

Losing track of the characters

Another great performance, but there’s so many characters that the reader lost track of the voices a few times.

One thing killed me

I find myself constantly surprised by this series and really dig it. however, with 11hrs left on this one, if I hear "I said" any more. It sounds EXACTLY the same every time. so when you hear it multiple times quickly, it yanks you out of the store. at first I thought it was a new character "Issac" as it's drawn out "eyyyye said" and don't always fit.

otherwise love the book and hope this doesn't occur in the rest of them.

Takes a while to take off

Get through some of set up chapters then it will take off. Has you wondering how it is going to wrap up in the next book.
