A very good start to the series, waiting for the next one! Nice development for a series, spent time laying down the details.

Great Listen, Highly Recommend

A classical science fiction tale. Excellent narration with a somewhat expected outcome to the story, but it's beautiful like a painting that's done in black and white with just hints of blue here and there. A story not unexpected from the title, yet the characters and flavor and quality audio production put this in the top 10% of my library of about 300 titles. It's simple, elegant and fun.

Performed fantastically by the narrator. I honestly didn't expect to like this book but man was I wrong. Will is a pretty good representation of the Everyman.

Greate story about getting off earth.

This was a amazing start to a series looking forward to seeing what happens next in the My Homemade Spaceship series.

Is it a comedy?

The suspension of disbelief is shattered by so many nonsense situations. Like federal agents spying on a guy for unrealistic reasons. Then trying to arrest the guy for being a terrorist because he what? Won some money. Then bought some metal, wires, phones, and a spot robot dog online? Yet German Nationalists somehow get plutonium into the country for some kind of racist terror plot without these nonsense feds knowing. No wonder the feds couldn't catch the terrorists, They were to busy sending the army after a guy for buying a new car. And was the Alien AI spying on him before "chosing" him? Even his neighbor was spying in him through binoculars. lol.

Good beginning. Now what?

I enjoyed the story but the uploads should have came sooner due to the preparation work needing to be done. Once committed, he should go all in. Ready for the next book.

The entire book from start to finish

This book had me from word one….and that doesn’t always happen. The author wrote an exceptional and narrators were a perfect combination.

And now I find out there is no other books in the series on Audible. WHAT THE HELL?!?!

Don’t know what actor-Amazon/Audible contract nonsense is happening or whatever it might be, but get it fixed and get the rest of these books on Audible as soon as possible. This book won’t work nearly as well in print.

Not for me

If you don't want readers to judge your protagonist too harshly, maybe don't start your story with an alien AI telling him he was literally the best choice she could find in all of humanity to help 'save the Universe' (I'm not exaggerating, she literally says that).

What follows is some really poor, National Lampoon's series of events that had me agog with disbelief. This is the kind of story that made me wish I was an editor, just so I could knock the story back and tell the author to try harder.

Red flags should have risen when, needing to procure funds to do his world saving thing, this genius' first, brilliant option was to go to a casino and win $3m on roulette on his second spin - all the while trying to keep hidden from the government and keep a low profile in general.

Also, maybe if you're going to write a story with 'stakes' this high, an aversion to killing literal terrorists and assassins should not be a character trait you're shooting for?

The story just isn't well thought out, and the premise too nonsensical to give the benefit of the doubt.

Do better.
