Publisher's summary

Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who always takes care of her own - no matter the cost....

When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace.

Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy - one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

This One Is "Best in Series"!

For those who have been reading Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series and following Jane's/Beast's growing pains, this book is the icing on the series cake. All the substance from the prior stories evolve exponentially in this book, taking readers through all the strong emotions, rage, dispair, righteous anger and of course, love.

Jane's best friend's husband, Evan, starts this book by literally blowing into town, and knocking down Jane's front door to demand she send his wife (Molly) out. Trouble is, Jane hasn't seen her friend and the entire series of adventures begins with the new Yellowrock Securities taking on the task of finding Molly.

The book is rich in developing existing characters into more realistic dimensions and in bringing the reader face-to-face with ethical choices, challenging physical limits and literally finding out who Jane's real friends are.

Faith has successfully woven several plot lines coming from the outside toward a central cause with such artistry that the reader is literally stunned from the exciting story telling when the conclusion drops into place. For the newbies to this series, the Jane Yellowrock World Companion might be a good "add on" to this book, but get this one first, you won't regret it.

Khristine Hvam IS Jane Yellowrock, and does a perfect job of rendering the character in all her moods. Enjoy this audiobook!

That’s just Ducky...

Just when you don’t think a story can hav e more twists and turns, Faith throws you for a loop. This story had a few spots where I was just... wide eyed and a few where I laughed like a look, and even a few where I panicked thinking “they’re gonna die. What the what?”

Jane, her team and he Vamps all have big roles to play in this monster of a book. The new characters mixed in the the well established ones always means you’re about to take a trip down the Yellowrock brick road. With each new twist and turn, with each new drop of blood things get more intense.

There were a few dozen moments of utter shock, and a few that had me on the edge of my seat when Evan showed up at her freebie house. She was in deep cat chow... How can she do that? I swear if Jane didn’t have bad luck somedays I don’t think she’d be able to crawl out of bed.

Vamps fighting vamps. Jane fighting Vamps and witches... it’s a normal Friday in NOLA, y’all. Come enjoy the ride.

How does FH do it?

This series is one of my favorites, but most series run out of steam by the time they get to book 7. Not so with Jane Yellowrock. Every book is better than the last, and I enjoy reading them over and over.

Thank you Faith Hunter, for hours and hours of escape and entertainment. I'm proud to say I'm a big fan.

chilln in WI.

What made the experience of listening to Black Arts the most enjoyable?

the narrator and her ability to perform a variety of voices for the variety of charactors.

What did you like best about this story?

the setting, the tibits of history.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

she's one of the best narrators Ive listened to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the fact that there is no long periods of sexuallity trying to fill in the story.

Any additional comments?

sometimes the repeating of things gets boring. Having read books from 1-7certain things are constantly repeated, which I think is just to fill in, and it gets boring hearing them again and again which is why I give the story just a 4.

quality adventure

Where does Black Arts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Towards the top end of the list of my favorites. Not without plot holes, but a good one. Engaging plot, impossible situations, love, heartbreak, and the introspection of a killer.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Black Arts?

Um, Jane and Beast have a discussion unlike any they have ever had. Jane realizes more about herself.

Which scene was your favorite?

The sparring scene was an interesting one. So was the gala scene where so much happened in a short time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Jane killer only?

Any additional comments?

Perhaps it was me but I thought this book lacked a bit of the thoroughness/ continuity that her other books have. I plan on listening to the series again to clear up the plot questions I have.
