Tid Bits and Small details...

Where does The Early Years rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book only makes sense if you are familiar with the original 6 Jane Yellowrock books. Having said that, this short story helps one see a small Tid Bit into the many layers that make Jane .. Jane.

What other book might you compare The Early Years to and why?

None as it is a small story that lets us see of what is going on inside the complex mind of Jane.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Listen to the 6 books available in the Jane Yellowrock series and then you will be able to know how exceptionally well Khristine does at not only reading but also at being inside the head of Jane and her panther.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That is an odd question to answer after all the book is only 10 minutes long...

Any additional comments?

Being a Jane Yellowrock fan, I love finding out all the info I can concerning her and what she went thru to make her the person she is. Being able to take a glimpse of what is primarily only know to the author helps deepen who Jane is and why she does what she does. .

Jane's Mystery

This short gives some background of Jane Yellowrock and how she got her name. It sets the stage for a great series.

Beginning of understanding

Short story that gives some background as to how Jane came out of the mountains at 12, speaking no English, and with amnesia. A story hinting at Beast’s and Jane’s duality and origins. Also introduces Bobby, and shows Jane’s compassion and Beast’s ambivalence for those less strong in spirit than her. Love this intro.

Jane tries to find herself

The Early Years
A Jane Yellowrock Story
By: Faith Hunter
Narrated by: Khristine Hvam
This is a short story. Jane leaves the Orphanage where she had lived now that she is of age and takes off to start her life. Before she goes to far, she tries to find where she is from. This is about that and what happens there.
Narration is very good!

Understanding the character a little better now.

I like short stories but this was a little too short I needed to hear more about the character. it seem like you just got to the really good part and then boom the story of us over.

Start of Jane’s adult life

Short story of when Jane leaves the Bethel Nondenominational Christian Children’s Home in So Carolina where she was raised since the age of 12.
She had amnesia when she stumbled out of the Sumter National Forest; and she goes back to the one place she does remember to find herself.
HVAM does a great job of narration.

interesting but too short

Although the story is interesting, it abruptly stops just as it starts to gain momentum. too short. I hope the rest of the series is not just a compilation of one chapter short stories.

so much backstory

This short story covers a lot of the past for Jane and Beast. Unlike WeSa and the Lumber King, we have both POVs.

Change

The new beginning and coming of age is what is going on in this story. Very graphic and a little disturbing.
