Great new series !

Faith has done it again, very interesting start to a very interesting new series ! Looking forward to more in the future ! This narrator has the perfect voice & diction for Faith’s stories !

Cute and action-packed

I don't normally read sci-fi so take my review with a grain of salt, but as someone new to the genre I really enjoyed this one. I'm also a cat person so that probably helped.

The narrator was amazing! I appreciated all the different voices she did. The story was a little hard to follow only because it has a lot of terminology that was new to me (again, not a sci-fi reader normally) but I feel the author did a good job of getting things across.

I hope this is a series because while the ending wrapped things up fine, I kind of want to know what happens next. It sets it up for the potential of a sequel.

Cats ARE sentient

Author needs to look up the meaning of the word sentient. Otherwise the story was ok... a little tech heavy for my taste.

Decent

Good premise. Writing was a bit clunky. Preformance was ok. For a free title it was decent.

Interesting concept. A bit short.

Overall an enjoyable book. as an intro it would not be a bad entry but I am glad it was a freebie as I would have been disappointed if I'd payed full price for it.

Well surprise surprise!

I was a little apprehensive about the change in genre for Faith Hunter. I only listened to the story because she is an awesome writer. But I was not disappointed. Breaking into a new genre is hard coming from Urban Fantasy to Sci-Fi but with this story she smashed into the scene with an awesome story. This story picks up quickly and doesn’t let go!

I have not read or listened to this author before.This is a dystopian novel. The overall story held my attention. The world is strange but that is usually the way after the final war, and in this genre. Shining Smith must carry on and try to protect her personal world. The futuristic tech jargon was a little too much for my non-si/fi mind to process.

My favorite character has to be the ships AI.

Better than Cats

Yes, this was a freebie, but it introduced me to Ms Hunter, and if all her books are this interesting Than she just gained a new fan.
I was sure that the premise for a post world war Earth was going to be well worn, but she came up with plot, characters and action that I really enjoyed.
I actually listened to it twice just to make sure I got all the bits of information that I would need for a sequel (keeping my fingers crossed).
The narrator was spot on....go ahead, give this one a try.

Good story with LOTS of tech jargon

All the tech talk kept me on my toes. I usually am a casual listener but I had to pay attention so that all the bots, weapons and Nanos made sense. Shining was an interesting, capable character and the cats were intriguing. The reader was very good but her voice for Mateo sounded Russian and I think of that as an Italian or Spanish name. The only reason I didn't give the story 5 stars is the constant technology felt like I was reading a manual. A smaller portion would have moved the story smoother. I would definitely get other books by Faith Hunter.

A glimpse at the future

Wow. A great story and a few news characters too. I love the intro off the cats and there nanos, but the AI's are so snarky!! I went into this knowing it's a short story. I came out wishing it were more. Faith Hunters story telling is amazing. And Khristone Hams voice keeps me leaning forward. <Reaching in pocket for lighter> encore!!!!
