progression fantastic distilled, maybe a bit too much.

this is really a fine example of progression fantasy. the MC doesn't grind much, and I actually wish there was more struggle. He basically gets to call out his goals and achieve them. the greater story is very slow to develop but it's still very fun. don't read if you're queerphobic I guess because there is one(1) queer character. this seems to have upset some reviewers.

Open ledge Cliff hangers are an armature move.

If the next book wasn’t already out I would have dropped this series because of the cliff hanger that the end. It was amateur story telling and doesn’t show any concern for the fans of the series.

Great continuation. some really good fights with real consequences and nice overall progression and the duels on the arena were awesome. Can't wait for the next one

Cool character with great friends

Great story line with cool companions. Story is starting to slow down a bit, needs to push forward with the chase from the kingdom for his black skill. Or slowly re-introduce the god that is helping him to keep that story line alive.

if you haven't read this book yet and you haven't read the first one, I would suggest waiting until the third book because there's a very irritating cliffhanger. I'm so excited for the third book but I'm mad at the second books ending. LOL

a lot stood out max has a tough go of it

I liked the book I dislike it ended but such is life. I HUNGER FOR THE NEXT ONE!

I love the progression of the story! the way everything is coming together is awesome! Can't wait for the next one!
