Modern medicine is lying to you. Discover the true science behind chronic diseases—and implement an actionable plan to restore your health and longevity once and for all.

For the first time in history, chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity plague our population on a global scale. From a seasoned physician, this paradigm-shifting book comprehensively explains the linked cause of chronic diseases and exposes the misconceptions prevalent in modern medicine.

In Lies I Taught in Medical School, Robert Lufkin, MD, explains that metabolic dysfunction is the common underlying cause of most chronic diseases that has been overlooked for decades, providing the tools needed to prevent and reverse them in ourselves. He draws on expansive, peer-reviewed evidence, proving that standard medical recommendations are killing us.

Over the course of twelve illustrated chapters, Lies I Taught in Medical School chronicles how Dr. Lufkin reversed four chronic diseases in himself and expertly supplies the strategies needed to:

  • Reduce chronic disease risk factors, such as inflammation and insulin resistance
  • Stabilize mental health via nutrition and lifestyle
  • Improve diet and metabolism
  • Treat obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and other common chronic diseases
  • Get off unnecessary medications, including many diabetes and hypertension drugs

What’s more, Dr. Lufkin offers practical advice to show how lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep, exercise, and stress management can target the fundamental cause of chronic diseases. Lies I Taught in Medical School is a revolutionary and holistic guide that will help you take control of your health—before it’s too late.

Bonus features include a downloadable action plan for metabolic health and longevity, and a FREE membership in the Lies I Taught in Medical School online book club community.

I am impressed by the truths and lies explained by the author; all very eye opening. I hate how it reads like an infomercial or a soap opera (more about this in the next chapter). And when he does get to some final answers, after spending the whole book backing his reasoning with good scientific evidence, he fails us by justifying his extreme recommendations by saying essentially, "It works for me and so it should work for you." I'm sorry that's only anecdotal evidence or a study based on a population of n=1. And for as much as he accused the medical industry of being financially biased, his final recommendations seem to be very biased towards things that he promotes. Almost seems like he's got something to gain from several of them.

As negative as this review may seem, the book really did present a lot of good information and will make you rethink how you eat and what real or fake benefits (or harm) there may be to the medicines you take.

This is better and more sane sounding than the last book on health by a medical doctor that I listened to. aThos os convincing and doable.

Oh boy, do I wish I could buy a copy of this title for everyone I know! I have been looking into nutrition and exercise for the past 18 months to improve my health and that of my immediate family and by chapter 4 of this audio book I knew I had to obtain the kindle and hardcopy versions as well. It encapsulates most of what I have been learning about in an easy to follow format without being overloaded, overbearing, or preachy. A perfect resource to explain the changes I feel compelled to make in our home, and so wish everyone I know and care about could also engage in.

I may end up buying 10 or more copies when the paperback becomes available so I can gift it to anyone who shows the slightest interest in the subjects contained herein.

Wish I could buy for everyone

Dr. Robert Lufkin’s Lies I Taught in Medical School is a game-changing book that exposes the flaws in traditional medical teachings, particularly regarding metabolic health, nutrition, and chronic disease. As someone who has struggled with my own metabolic situation, this book was a revelation. It provided me with critical insights into how the food I was eating was impacting my health in ways I hadn’t fully understood before.

Lufkin, a former professor deeply entrenched in conventional medical education, takes readers on a journey through the outdated and sometimes misleading information taught to generations of doctors. He breaks down complex topics like insulin resistance, the dangers of processed foods, and the myths surrounding cholesterol and fat with clarity and compelling evidence.

What struck me the most was how much of what I believed about “healthy” eating was actually harming my metabolism. The book’s eye-opening revelations pushed me to rethink my diet entirely. Since reading it, I’ve made significant changes—reducing processed foods, focusing on whole, nutrient-dense meals, and paying closer attention to how my body responds to different foods. The difference has been profound.

This book isn’t just an exposé of medical misinformation; it’s a call to action. If you’ve ever felt confused by conflicting dietary advice or frustrated with conventional approaches to chronic disease, Lies I Taught in Medical School is a must-read. It has the power to transform not only how you think about health but also how you live it.
