Space Punks, Ancient Secrets, and a Wild Ride!

What a creative thrill ride! I sooooo wanted to binge listen to the entire story, but I forced myself to string it out as a reward for getting work done. This story is so much fun!

Anna Mocikat's Space Punks on audiobook is a non-stop space adventure filled with cyborgs, aliens, ancient artifacts, AI, bizarre relationships, galactic intrigue, and a crew of unforgettable characters.

The story starts you off with an oddly naive, but relatable main character and throws you headfirst into a whirlwind of excitement. While the deeper scientific explanations might not be the main focus, the story dives into the fascinating concepts of transhumanism and its potential impact on a galactic scale. The author masterfully introduces us to a rich and imaginative universe filled with intriguing characters, each with their own hidden agendas, leveraging raw dialog. I loved the individuality of the characters. I felt a connection with each one due to their personable presence. The overall concept kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. My favorite character was Captain Jack!

Fantastic Cast

I'm so not used to there being more than one voice for an audiobook. I've never heard something like this before. What a joy to have all these characters brought to life. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

From beginning to end this was a great story, and I can't wait for the next one. The cast was great and brought the characters to life. It's amazing what a full cast of talented individuals can do to add to a story. Looking forward to the next installment!

Good story, distracting voice actor.

I really liked the story but the voice actor for David seemed out of place.

Standout sci fi series start!

Space Punks plunges us into a future work humanity has spread into the stars, battled our own technology, and upgraded our bodies in the process. A fast-paced adventure, we join the newest recruit on the Nephilim, the ship run by a bunch of self proclaimed, space punks, brought by what seems to be happenstance, and a few coincidences, taking him from a subterranean prison out into a galaxy he’s never seen. This is a great Start to a series with an excellent cast bringing all of it to life! Can’t wait to see where it goes.

Who am I?

A man gets thrown into a prison, not knowing who he is, and he meets a woman in the shower and gets pulled into an escape and a great adventure. I really liked the Nightingale, he is funny and kick ass.

A stellar ensemble…

… to take us on this interstellar whirlwind of a ride! This cast was expertly selected and incredibly talented. The plot is exciting and grips you from the start, and the character development is impressive especially given the number of key players. Thoroughly enjoyed!

A new Sci-Fi Epic

I've read more of Anna Mocikat's books than probably any other specific author. I may have opened more of Stephen King's, but if we're counting cover to cover, she's easily in first place.
Anyway, as someone with experience with her style, her character types, and the settings that become staples in her canon; Space Punks delivers in every single category.

The ensemble cast shines more here than in any other book she's written, almost to the point where you forget about the identity character, David. In his case, there are just enough breadcrumbs dropped throughout the narrative to keep you guessing as to the great mystery surrounding him. In particular I was enamoured with Dr Bonhert, or "Bonesaw" as the crew call her. As an Original Series Star Trek fan, I have a special soft spot for crass medical professionals with speech affectations.

The narrative also explores a tight adventure while doling out more hints at the mysteries surrounding a mysterious artefact, to avoid going to more details. True to its description as a "Space Opera", this mystery compounds on other mysteries that interweave and expand beyond the pages of just one book. In her closing statement, Anna even confirms this will be the first of many books. Personally, I don't see how it could ever end, and would be very pleased to see Space Punks alongside Dune, the Star Wars extended canon, and Warhammer 40k novels: all epic science fiction that can spiral outward infinitely, just like the universe they explore.

Action packed adventure, thrilling to listen to

Loved the novel and hearing it added even more to the experience, if you don’t have time to sit and read please treat yourself to this, wonderful cast and a truly amazing story, you can’t help but wonder what’s going to happen next and the ending leaves me pining for book 2 to release soon, highly recommend this
