Publisher's summary

Traces of Kara is an action-packed, pulse-pounding psychological thriller/suspense novel that features a determined killer who slowly loses his grip on reality as his carefully detailed plan starts to fall apart and a heroine determined to move forward with her life who now must reconcile everything she believed to be true about her family with the reality of their tragic past.

Kara Knight didn't know she had a twin...until it was too late.

Kara Knight can't wait to leave her hometown for the promise of nursing school and a fresh start on her future—leaving behind an overprotective mother, a broken heart, and painful memories. However, 25 miles away, the twin she doesn't know exists is determined to be reunited with the sister he cannot forget.

Kara is abducted and thrown into her obsessive captor's delusional world. As the past she thought she knew unravels around her, Kara struggles to make sense of the memories that come creeping back, threatening her sanity and her safety. Meanwhile, Kara's mother races against time to save the daughter she fears she will lose when a long-held secret is revealed. The hours tick away as her captor plays out his plan—to take Kara with him into death at the exact moment of their birth, never to be separated again.

So much suspense!

I think of Melissa Foster as a romance writer and I love her books. Wow, can she write suspense. “Traces of Kara” will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book has so many twists and turns you will not want to put it down. Luckily I was listening to it. The narration by A.T. Chandler and Jennifer Jill Araya was on point. They both kept me intrigued and their voices were as much of the story as the words themselves. This book definitely a top notch audiobook.

An Amazing Thriller

Audiobook Review: The narrators of this book are perfect. They brough Kara and Roland to life as I listened to Melissa Foster’s story. I found myself looking for times that I could listen and not wanting to stop. This book is wonderful. The storyline pulled me in, and the narrators kept me listening.

Kara and Roland are interesting characters Kara has no memory of Roland and Roland is obsessed with Kara. The web that Roland weaves is so twisted that I was not ever sure that anyone would come out the other side of it. I needed to know more of their history and as it all came together I was appalled, I was scared, and I was in awe of how it all came together.

Melissa Foster wrote a suspense thriller that I could not put down. I love that an author that I know as a romance has skills in writing thrillers as well.

Incredible suspense!

Looking for a great psychological thriller? Look no further! Melissa Foster is a favorite romance author of mine, and getting the chance to listen to her suspense stories was something I could not pass up. I started this book last night and literally stayed up to finish it! Kara wanted to finish her schooling and get over the embarrassment of her cheating husband. She had no idea just where her life was going, but what happened was completely tragic and unexpected. A stalker has been plotting for years, and he has decided the best place to finally grab her is in the coal plant, Kara's place of work. Once he grabs her, the story really begins. Will anyone realize she is gone? Why did he take her? What is the end game? And how does it all turn out? Foster has created a horror movie in my mind. The coal plant is the perfect place for it all to happen, dark, dingy, basements and tunnels, poor electric and lots of places to hide. Kara finds out her life isn't what she thought, realizing betrayals and secrets have been held all of her life. But it's not just effecting Kara! Her mother and stepfather, policeman, FBI and coworkers all are involved in this mind blowing suspense. It made me think, my feelings were invested and I couldn't wait to see how it all played out. This is a fantastic listen, great for this time of year!

AT Chandler and Jennifer Jill Araya bring this scary story alive! Chandler plays the dark, demented Roland, and boy did he play the part. I believed every single part he played, felt the danger and obsession. As the secondary characters, he created a town of caring, heroic men, each with their own agendas but realistic and relatable. Araya comes through as Kara, and what a job she does. Scared, confused, sick, frustrated, angry, she comes through with every emotion as Kara goes through her ordeal. Plus she plays her mom with a fierce protectiveness that is completely believable. I could feel the mamma bear! This was a amazing pairing and incredible narration.

Traces of Kara is a dark thriller

All Kara wants is a better life for herself. After divorcing a cheating husband, always at odds with her mother and stepfather and working a dead end job, Kara finally feels her life is heading in the right direction when she's accepted to nursing school. Little does she know, her life is about to implode.

Roland has searched for his twin sister for years. After locating her, he is ready to put his twisted plan into action but she has no idea who he is and why he continues to call her Marissa. When her mother also becomes a target of Roland's, Kara finally finds out the truth about who Roland really is and what she thought she knew about her life was all a lie.

A twisted story of one twins undying love for the other makes it hard to put it down. Narrators were great!

Thriller

I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook of Traces of Kara. And oh boy I really loved it. The narrators A.T. Chandler and Jennifer Jill Araya definitely brought this story to life. I was kept at the end of my seat from beginning to end. Kara (Marissa) has a twin Roland who she never met and talk about a first encounter. This story has so many twist and turns that keeps you hooked. I am excited that Melissa Foster did this thriller story which is completely different from her romance stories. I loved this and can't wait for more stories like this.

Nail bitter of a thriller

WOW!! I am still in awe of this book. I love this author and listen to all of her romance books but this was the first thriller of hers I have listened to and this author can bring it. I was on edge waiting to see what would happen next and if Kara would escape her past. Roland was a disturbed man who began that way as a child and it never ended. His obsession with Kara was demented but steamed from his mother and childhood. I almost felt sorry for Roland. There are lots of twists and turns in this book and it is definitely a thriller. I enjoyed it and recommend it.

A.T. Chandler, and Jennifer Jill Araya were terrific. They both delivered a worthy performance as Roland and Kara and all the side characters to bring it all together.

Gave me the shivers!

Traces of Kara is a psychological suspense by Melissa Foster. This story had me on the edge of my seat from the start. This genre is out of my comfort zone. I have read lots of Melissa Foster romance books before this one. The author’s writing is superb and has never disappointed me. Thrillers are not my typical read &/or audio. Traces of Kara has definitely shown me a different side to the author. I listened to the audio which is performed by A. T. Chandler and Jennifer Jill Araya. A.T. Chandler had the perfect voice for Roland. Jennifer Jill Araya was pretty weak for me. I didn’t feel Kara/Marissa come to life for me. If you like suspense/psychological then I highly recommend Traces of Kara by Melissa Foster.
