Publisher's Summary

Patrick and Clare wake up trapped in a basement, a thin wall separating their cells. Their captor is mysteriously absent, which at first seems like a blessing. As more time passes with no food or water, they begin to realize a clock is ticking for their survival.

Combining their intelligence and determination, the two begin plotting an escape from their shared prison. Overcoming each obstacle only presents another obstacle standing in the way of their freedom. It will take all of their ingenuity and strength to find their way out of this mess.

They know their captor is still out there, and it is only a matter of time before he returns.

This book will keep you guessing!

Suspenseful, dark book with lots of twists and turns up until the very end. The storytelling by Andrew Gibson was excellent if not spooky.

Will there be book 2

Omg this story had me on the edge of my seat I couldn’t believe the twists and turns and not believe the outcome. For one when the guy got hit in Walmart parking lot no one noticed the purchase of dog food why did they not go to his house? And the ending omg I didn’t see that coming. I recommend this book.
I received this free from the author or narrator for an honest review.

Great psychological thriller!💜

Be prepared for a major mind twist!! Expect the unexpected and be ready for some fascinating plot twists. This story was well written with an edge that will leave you on the edge of your seat not knowing what to expect next. The story was amazing by itself but when you add the brilliant performance of Andrew Gibson to narrate it, you will be blown away. He really has a way of bringing this story to life. With so many emotions, despair, anger and even a little craziness thrown in, he really nailed it. If you love this genre, this is a must read/listen.
I highly recommend this book.

Story

It was a great book, but i did feel the story was a little all over the place. Every chapter it skipped from character to character, which made it a bit confusing at first.

One thing I dislike that the ending wasn’t a happy-ending.

I’m left with many questions!

Other than that I enjoyed listening to the story and learning the character in detail.

good tension in this thriller

The main plot of the story has some similarities to many other psycho abduction thrillers so if you're a fan of this genre, the general style of this story will be familiar. However, there are some interesting twists and turns that make it worthwhile to keep reading until the end. I like the length of the story, too. The author could have padded out the story to lengthen it in various ways, but that might have affected the pacing and tension. I can easily envision this story as a movie.

No complaints about the narration. Andrew Gibson's voice had a good level of intensity that complemented this style of story. I did increase the playback speed to suit my personal preferences.

This was my first time experiencing a story by Mark Allan Gunells and I'm looking forward to reading some more by him. This book will captivate you from start to finish! The intense journey of Patrick and Clare is very well done and the antagonist is very sinister. All of this tension explodes in a jaw dropping finale that will blow you away. I'm so glad I got the chance to discover this gem and I hope you enjoy the ride too!

Riveting

This dark tale was chilling, each chapter told from a different perspective. Yet, it didn't deter you from connecting with the characters. The narrator's performance was perfection.

Quick and fun read with some good twists

This was my first book by Mr. Gunnells, and I was not disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed the story. The pacing was perfect. Surprise ending caught me totally off guard. The characters are very likable as well. It was not graphic, but does have some horrible situations. Highly recommend this one.

The Narration was perfect as well. Many different voices to animate the cast of characters. Listened to it in one sitting.

Did not disappoint!

This is a story about a twisted family forced to be together. Some of whom act out so Big Daddy is there to issue punishments, no matter what the cost.

This was a really good story which kept me on my toes and peeking around corners. The author lolls you into a sense of wellbeing, love and comfort, then all of a sudden there's struggle, distress and mayhem. I liked the way the author introduced a new character or side story which gives you a false expectation that the story will take a certain path, then he totally changes direction leaving less predictable. At one point I thought I would be disappointed with the 'typical expected ending', but no, the author made the right decision and took it to another level. Brilliant narration too.
