A few minutes ago, Meghan Moretti's biggest concern was getting the kids' athletic clothes washed in time for practice this evening. Now, it seems that Earth has been forced into participating in some high-stakes intergalactic reality television. All electrical wiring has been slagged, and most combustibles neutralized. Timothy Walter Bolton - better known as Timmy - has spent most of his life as a necromancer. When he isn't terrorising his enemies, he's plotting inside his castle, which is built on top of lightless chasms filled with nameless horrors and beings of a generally malevolent and megalomaniacal nature. But after one of his latest creations, a zombie hydra-dragon-bear, tries to eat him, he decides that maybe it's time to find a new, less dangerous, career.

But after he purchased it, Ben Holiday learned that there were a few details the ad had failed to mention. The kingdom was in ruin. The Barons refused to recognize a king, and the peasants were without hope. A dragon was laying waste the countryside, while an evil witch plotted to destroy everything.

Enter Cara, whose parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying—from disease, turf wars, or vendettas they couldn’t outrun. Cara’s life has been cut short on 372 worlds in total. On this dystopian Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands.

Publisher's summary
Simon is the best delivery boy that Mr Edwards’s restaurant has ever had. He’s on time every time, and he’s gotten nothing but good reviews. But he needs more money.
His mother’s medical treatment won’t pay for itself, and his father is already working three jobs to try to make ends meet. But it might just be his lucky day: Mr. Edwards has another job for him.
It’s more delivery work, but not the usual kind. You might even say that it’s out of this world. Oh well. Beggars can’t be choosers, and the pay is fantastic.
Of course, it’s not going to be easy, and he does have to keep the whole thing secret. But come hell or high water, Simon is going to get the job done. It doesn’t matter if it’s warring demons, angry tree-folk, or ornery artificial intelligence, nothing is going to stop him from making his deliveries.
He’s not a normal delivery boy anymore—he’s a cosmic delivery boy.

Most days, Sarya doesn't feel like the most terrifying creature in the galaxy. Most days, she's got other things on her mind. Like hiding her identity among the hundreds of alien species roaming the corridors of Watertower Station. Or making sure her adoptive mother doesn't casually eviscerate one of their neighbors. Again. And most days, she can almost accept that she'll never know the truth - that she'll never know why humanity was deemed too dangerous to exist.

Are you being attacked by a pissed-off unicorn? Has an angry basilisk slithered into your camp? Is a dragon about to eat you? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this book is for you. Our world is full of monsters. Some of them are happy to live and let live, but the majority of them are vicious jerks. If you want to survive, then you need to know what to do when things go wrong. Don't settle for speculation or the ramblings of a tavern drunk. Get the facts about monsters straight from a legendary hero who has fought just about all of them.

Great beginning to what I hope is a continuing series
What a wonderful story from an author that I have loved since their first necromancies book. It is nice to hear how “awesome the elves are” and tales of “a dragon who is being raised by a fire elf that is also amazing”.

Good fun!
I love L.G. Estrella's work. He has an interesting tak on things and his stories are always enjoyable. The Unconventional Heroes series is still my favorite, but this is a fun story too :-)

Surprisingly Entertaining!
Edit: I just re-read the Audible entry for this title and it was under Sci-Fi / Humorous. When I wrote the review I missed that little point. I need to lean to read better! :-) Being in this category, it is spot on and my review still stands as it is a really fun read, which was the point all along. :-D
Review:
This is a tough review for me as I am really a hard Sci-Fi guy and not into fantasy stories. Then there is this book. At first it was Sci-Fi, then it became silly Sci-Fi with fantasy thrown in and mixed well. When it got a little silly, I thought I wouldn't like it but I soon found it was really fun! You have to TOTALLY suspend disbelief on the same level of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but when you do it is a really entertaining listen. Also, the narration is really top notch. I really look forward to another in the series.
Bottom line: Get this book and set your mind to a fun read. 🙂

I really liked the story 4.5
I kept thinking of Buck Rogers for some reason even though this had nothing to do with it. I think it was the same flavor if that makes any sense? Anyway, it was a fun read/listen. Most enjoyable. I really liked all of his adventures and making the giennie pig the most powerful entity in the universe was hilarious.

Over the top, but in a fun way
Doesn't take itself remotely seriously, everything is so far out of scale you give up thinking and just go with it.
I would love to see this cross with other works if Timmy ever ordered something from the company.

not sure why I didn't like it better
Clever and well narrated. I just didn't find myself unable to put it down. Perhaps it was bec I had recently listened to the same author (Necromancers) or bec it has long "war" scenes with changes in different weapons? Very fun premise and hilarious at times. Light listen.
