Publisher's summary

With Dean's empowering female characters and their hot and intense love stories, The Line Below and Kick are all-consuming stories that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster and leave you on the edge of your seat.

Warning: book hangover likely after listening to this boxed set.

The Line Below

When my teammates drag me to a club for my 21st birthday, the last thing on my mind is meeting a new guy. I'm not the kind of girl who gets wrapped up in a stranger on a sweaty dance floor. Except, that's exactly what happens.

Only, the guy isn't a stranger. He's Jett Decker, the Olympic track star who has the entire campus buzzing with his transfer to our college. He may have given me his number, but I won't use it. I refuse to be distracted by silly things like explosive chemistry. I've got my own Olympic dreams to chase. Turns out, whatever ignited on that dance floor can't be put out by swimming laps.

***

Kick

When rising rock star Jack Kingston comes to play on our college campus, I think he’ll be just another fix. Instead, he flips everything around and makes me question who I am, what I want, and why I do what I do. After he leaves, everything changes.

Pushing myself in the pool, struggling to keep up with my twin sister, it’s what keeps me from losing myself entirely. Swimming isn’t my passion. It’s my source of stability. When I find the courage to finally start pushing my boundaries, I discover success in ways I never imagined, both in and out of the water. When Jack resurfaces, I'm forced to decide between facing my fears or letting them spiral out of control as my past catches up with me... threatening to pull me back under. It's time to sink or swim.

Great Boxed Set!

I loved The Spark Sisters's stories. Each story follows one twin sister in her journey to love. Shay and Kick are opposites, but both are insecure. Their bonds are very strong, and I liked how they were very supportive of each other. The stories are beautifully written. Shay and Jett's story is sweet and heartwarming. I liked Jett confidence. This is a great Sports Romance. Kick and Jack's story is more emotional, filled with drama, secret, angst, and ups and downs. Kick is a wonderful character, young, smart, impulsive, and sassy. My heart broke for her. I liked Jack's determination. They are perfect together. I enjoyed both stories. Stacey Glemboski did an excellent job with the narration. #TheFlock

A Hard Hitting, Yet Sweet Read

Thank you to Ali Dean and Booksprout for allowing me to listen to a copy of this duet. I really enjoyed my time reading this. Kick and Shea both felt real, and both of their stories felt like they were different while still being connected. And swimming isn't usually something that is featured within sports romances, so it was nice to have a change of pace when it came to that. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who's looking for a good sports romance that sets itself apart.

Fantastic Duet! Amazing Stories!!

The Line Below
The author created a fantastic character in Shay. She's strong and resilient, but she's reserved. Her twin, Lydia (Kick) is the outgoing one and the one who all the guys are interested in. When Jett Decker dances with her at a club, she doesn't think he was there for her. Shay has an adorable naïveté about her that makes her likable. Her and Jett's interactions, both with his family and friends show just how perfect they are for each other! I thought Shay's realizations about what she wants for her life and her future goals (and future relationship plans) and her journey to get there were amazingly told by the author.
The story was told in dual POV with a majority from Shay's perspective. I'd have preferred some more from Jett to get to know him better.

Kick
I loved Kick's character growth. The book starts out with events concurrent with the first story, but then the story moves forward. Kick really grows into a better person, dealing with her issues and focusing on some of her toxic habits. This story was amazingly written and once I started, I could not stop! Kick goes on a journey that is a tough one, but she's strong and has a loving sister (and rockstar boyfriend) to help her out.
The story is also told from dual POV, with it mostly from Kick's side, but there are quite a few from Jack.

For the duet itself: I liked how each couple was unique and not a rehashing of the same characters in a different book. The author did a great job of making unique characters and an amazing journey for both couples.

TW: there is talk of assault in both stories.

I loved the narrator! She did such an excellent job really getting into the characters and the emotion in their voices. She had a good distinction between the inner monolog and the speaking voices, plus the male and female voices! I absolutely will listen to other books she narrates.

the Sparks Girls!!

Shay and Jett!

Shay is very competitive swimmer, and while she's not in the Olympics yet she has confidence in her talents. She eat sleeps and breathes swimming. She's also has a 4.0 in college. Brains and athletic talents, she doesn't however think she's gorgeous. Jett disagrees! Jett is an Olympic silver metal track star. When he sees Shay and college he is blown away. He knows she's his! Can he convince her?

Kick and Jack!

Kick goes to a concert she predicts is going to be life changing. Little does she know, how right she was. Jack is the singer and guitar player of the band at the concert. He knows she's the one that first night ... she's not so sure. Sweet and steamy!

So good as a set! Jett and Jack are such different people, but both so swoony. I feel like a lot of authors find a male personality and stick with it or at least with minor changes. I love that they are so night and day. Because the twins needed men that were that way.

Must read and 100% get the audiobook because omg the narrator makes it thatch better!.

The Spark Sisters Duet

I loved this duet. The first book was Shay’s book. She is a collegiate swimmer. She had never really dated anyone or had ever found someone worth her time. That was all before Jet. Jet is a silver metal Olympian in track. He was instantly attracted to Shay. He came in and staked his claim and his intentions from the very beginning. They faced a little diversity due to being an interracial couple in the public eye. I just loved their instant love for each other.

Book two is Kick’s story. She too is a collegiate swimmer along side her twin sister. Only that is about as much in common they have. Kick is a wild and out going. She likes the band and party scene. She is on her way to becoming a trendsetter and influencer. She stumbles upon a hot new upcoming band. She becomes a little obsessed with their music. The lead singer isn’t bad to look at either. When Jack and Kick meet for the first time he just knows she is something special. The only thing is Kick just doesn’t see it in herself. There may be a few moments that could be triggers for some surrounding assault. In the end I loved the connection between Kick and Jack just as much. Stacey Glemboski did a fantastic job narrating this duet.

Great Duet

I have come to love Ali Dean's audiobooks. They are refreshing with just the right amount of drama. I think about sports a bit differently, being able to better envision the hard work endured. This set was two standalone books about twin sisters each get their HEA romance. I hated pausing when necessary since I was enjoying the storyline so much. It was perfect for a long trip.

Stacey Glemboski is an excellent narrator. She voices male and female parts perfectly. It amazes me. She is one of a few who can pull it off well! This audiobook rolled like a movie in my head!

sports romance

The line below
Shay, this is a story of her obsession about being the best for collegiate swimming and training for the Olympics. The perfect daughter who wants to please her parents , but at what cost to
herself?
It's about her insecurities regarding her relationship, with her boyfriend, Is he with her for the right reasons? or is this concerning something else? it's about what she really wants to do, but will her parents be disappointed with her plans?
Jett is confident in himself, he knows what he wants when he see it. But can he assure Shay, that he's with her for the right reasons?
Julian wants to be more than no strings attached arrangement, wants to possess her. He becomes obsessed with Shay and Jett's relationship.

kick
Kick, has problems of her own she lives in the moment for excitement, partying, hooking up! But she is really insecure with the plans for herself .
She is scared of not knowing what she really wants. Is she swimming for herself or just something to do with her sister? It's the only thing that keeps her grounded. Her life of one night stands change after meeting A musician, Jack Kingston. He has her questioning herself, she doesn't do relationships, What makes Jack Kingston so different?
Ali Dean explores the struggles and commitments to become a collegiate athlete! Showing Shay and Kick and at their strongest, weakest and most vulnerable moments. I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
Stacey Glemboski is phenomenal in her narration. Her voices and personalities for each character were spot on! Her ability to transition from one character to the other is flawless.

good listen

Both stories are good. The narrator does a good job portraying the stories. Kick is wild and fun where Shy is a little more aloof and thought-out.
