Publisher's Summary

A jock tutor and a determined sorority girl in this fun and sexy college sports romance.

Blair

What's the probability of insulting the one guy on campus I need to help me pass statistics? If I knew, I wouldn't be standing in front of Wes Reynolds begging him to tutor me.

Basketball player, sexy, arrogant, always sleeping through class...these are the things I knew about him. What I didn't know is that he is a seriously smart jock.

Wes

What's the best way to get rid of the peppy and unrelenting girl that keeps asking me to tutor her? If I knew, I wouldn't be staring at her tan legs and attempting to teach her statistics.

Sorority girl who's fine as hell, determined, and a ball buster...these are the things I knew about her. What I didn't know is that she is all the things I didn't realize I wanted or needed.

Or that one semester with her would change everything.

Fantastic Twist on the Typical Sports Romance!

Overall 4.5 stars
Performance 5+ stars
Story 4 stars

This book surprised me in the best way! I loved the author's twist on the typical sports romance/tutor trope! It was so refreshing to have the hero be the tutor and not just this over the top, big man on campus jock. I really enjoyed the gradual build up between Wes and Blair. There's definitely an attraction from the start, but they develop a true connection and really get to know each other through the course of the book. They had such great banter and back and forth. Wes is this ornery and grumpy guy, while Blair is a burst of sunshine. Their personalities were such a complement to the other and I loved how they were the light to the others dark.

There are some bumps along the way as they struggle with the depth of their feelings, as well as trouble with a horrible ex and changes in their future game plans, but overall the angst level was pretty low. I did want to throat punch Wes a time or two towards the end, but he did do some pretty good groveling to make up for it. ;) The secondary characters were just as fun, especially Vanessa and Joel. I'm a little wary since Joel is quite the manwhore, but I'm excited that his book is next.

Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke were AMAZING! I loved their narration and both were able to do male and female voices so convincingly. I've listened to quite a few audiobooks with Erin Mallon, but this was the first time listening to Jason Clarke in more than a small supporting role. I have to say, that I was totally blown away by Jason Clarke's performance. He voiced each character so amazingly and uniquely, that I had zero problems figuring out who was speaking. I am so impressed at his range and ability to voice so many characters without them all blending together. Truly a fantastic performance! It doesn't hurt that his voice is damn sexy too! ;) This is my first book by the author, but it definitely won't be my last!

4.5 Fun & Steamy Stars!

I fell so hard for this hilarious, sweet and steamy romance! I wasn't sure what to expect but this story was so refreshing, moving and funny. Blair and Wes had the most awkward beginning scenes. I just wanted to save poor Blair from putting her foot in her mouth! But it was the perfect start to the romance between the overworked Blair and the popular basketball nerd. I loved how Jenshak took her time building their relationship. Bringing in their friends who made this story even more fun but heartrending at times as well. Blair and Wes are so perfect together, balancing their strengths and vulnerabilities. I totally swooned over Wes and all his alpha protectiveness! This story was multifaceted and made my heart hurt at times. Narrators, Erin Mallon, and Jason Clarke were amazing as Blair and Wes. I easily felt all the fun, passion, heartbreak, and love these characters felt. I loved the chemistry between Clarke and Mallon and think they compliment each other so perfectly and I was easily lost to their storytelling.

Love it!

I absolutely love everything about this! The story and narration were both great! Blair and Wes were both fantastic characters, the side characters left me wanting more from this series, and the writing had me engaged from beginning to end!

I loved watching Blair and Wes fall. There was just something fantastic about watching them transition from strangers to friends to so much more. The conflict was believable, and the chemistry was perfect! Both of these characters were so well developed. I felt like I knew them and understood where they were coming from. I also liked that they had their own struggles outside of their relationship.

I seriously can't wait for more of this series. The side characters not only added to this story, but they were developed and left me wanting each and every one of their stories!

Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke did a fantastic job narrating this! They brought the characters to life and had me hooked from the first word to the last. Seriously, these characters popped off the page. Every emotion came through in their performance!

Smart, Hot, Jock indeed

I loved everything about this book. The story is great and believable. It flows well and keeps your interest throughout the entire book. The characters are all well developed and likeable with the exception of the bad guy and he is true to form. You get a good picture of the surroundings so you can picture you are there with Blaire and Wes and all the other great characters we get to fall for in this series. Rebecca Jenshak was new to me on this one but I am hooked on her words.

Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke, just having those two listed is enough to know how good the audio is on this one but let me say they did an outstanding job. I was lost in their voices. Erin is fantastic and I love listening to her but I think I could listen to Jason Clarke read the phone book and be happy. They were both perfect with these characters. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I loved this and highly recommend it.

Cute, but pretty vanilla

I’d classify this book as more of a young adult romance novel with a tiny touch of dirty stuff. I mean really small. It’s a cute story, and I honestly enjoyed listening to it, but it was pretty basic and the conflicts/obstacles the characters are dealing with are really the kinds of situations only young people think are catastrophic. As an adult with a few more years in the real world than these characters, I found the conflicts a bit trivial. The narrators did a great job though.

A good one

First time I have read a book by this author but it won’t be my last. Her writing style kept my interest and I really enjoyed it. The interaction between the characters kept the momentum and did not disappoint. Girl meets athlete and while its typical it has a twist that is different and unique. Really enjoyed this one. Added bonus is the audible version. Such good narration adds so much to the story. Buying both the book and the audible is actually less expensive than just buying the audible. I enjoyed listening while working around the house and then resting and enjoying the read. Thanks Amazon!

Swoon

I loved the smart jock character. Blair's characters is so full of spunk and I love her positive outlook on life (something I strive for and usually end up like Wes). Wes is the basketball player who is smart and is tricked into tutoring Blaire. I found myself really looking forward to listen to this story and the narrators with their different perspectives. While this story didn't hit my heart as much as I thought it would it still struck a chord with me and completely captured my listening. The story itself had a great flow and I am dying to know more about more of the players.

More than its Genre

When I began listening to this one I didn't relise I'd need tissues right away, and yet as the story continued I was even given inspiration on my own not so "happy day" there are scenes where I laughed and ither where our hero made me mad.

to say this story was so well performend I didn't realise my face was following the gestures of the current situations is tge understatement, I was so lost into the book I will say its one I would recomned to all my audiobookbabes.

Total gold!

I love when a book breaks the mold! That is just what the Assist has done. Wes is not your typical jock. He doesn't need help cramming ir sometime to write his papers for him. Oh no, he's got this. Wes is not only athletic, he's smart. For once, we had a troubled female, Blair, who needed some help. They have a rough go of it but the angst is low. The banter is high and the sweetness is perfect. I'm seriously excited at the thought of getting more books about of this Smart Jocks series... Joel anyone?!?!

I am a huge fan of Erin Mallon. I love every word she utters... total audio fangirl here. She just portrays just what I expect from the characters and then some. She has a sharp tongue and her and Jason Clark were so darn fun to listen too. Mr. Clark also has the ability to make you believe and feel the story he's telling. These two are gold together!

Erin and Jason, it's bound to be a hit.

Cute story... A tragedy, a scam bag and the hottest athlete. The narration made this story even better, I hope there will be many more stories about the boys on this team.... Well worth the credit, easy to listen to and mostly a feel good romance.... Nice writting Rebecca....⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blair💘Wes! Terrific Story & Audible Listen🎧

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it is a well written and well told. It grabbed my attention right from the start and holds it to the very end. It is not your usual NA sports romance, it is so much more. Jock needing a tutor, been there done that, in “The Assist” Rebecca Jenshak switches things up, makes them more interesting and less stereotypical. She created a character, Wes, who is not just a hunky, hot jock & star basketball player but he has brains and a huge heart. I liked how he looked out for others, his team and those he cared about. I also liked the camaraderie amongst the team members and who they supported each other. The lead female, Blair, was a delight, she and her friend had dreams to go off to college together. A tragic accident changed all that, but she continued on to live that dream not only for her but for her friend as well. I loved her positive, bubbly personality. Also loved the chemistry between her and Wes, I thought they were great for each other. The author did a great job presenting college life, the struggles some face as well as the fun. There was never a dull moment in this book, there is drama, angsts, some twists, times when emotions run high as well as some great romance. Rebecca Jensak, that you for this great, heartfelt story

I listened to the Audible edition, Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke are entertaining narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to live, given each their own voice and personality. They do a great job projecting the characters emotions and attitude in their performance. Thanks for a great listen🎧

Smart Jocks Book One

Smart Jocks Book One.

Blair Olson is a junior at Valley University, but her future rests on her statistics grade. When she notices that the hot jock with a boot sleeping through class is getting A's on his tests, Blair knows she must find his tutor. No way could he sleep through class and still pass. However, Wes Reynolds is insulted when she asks about his tutor. Apparently, he is not just a dumb jock. Can Blair convince Wes to tutor her, or will her dreams go up in flames?

If you're looking for a fun NA book with smart athletes, driven sorority girls and inspirational quotes, this is the book for you!

Absolutely Fabulous!

The Assist by Rebecca Jenshak is so much more than a smart jocks story. I loved how she developed the characters and had the teaching analogies that were sports related. The enemies to friends to lovers was perfect in this book. Add in perfect narration of Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke. Both narrators were so wonderful! I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrators. Thank you Audiobook Obsession for providing this review copy audiobook! I loved it.

Bles!

Amazing! I loved this book! Not only because my boyfriends name is Wes, from Kansas who loves basketball, and wants to move to AZ, but it was very well written! I didn’t get lost, confused and annoyed at any parts. The book was easy to follow. This was a nice listen that I will definitely be relistening to again.

Narration was great on both ends! Jason’s voice makes it so much hotter!

Loved this so very much

I do not think I can adequately express how much I enjoyed this book. I have never listened to either Erin Mallon or Jason Clarke but I thoroughly enjoyed the way they narrated the book. With both of them I could easily tell who was who within the characters. I have to admit I am a sucker for a deep growly voice though...

The more I listened to these characters the more I liked them. They just got under my skin somehow. I really needed to know what was going to happen. The story itself kept me interested and I'm kinda sad now it's over. If you like college sport romances I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Great book

I love sports romance and this one didn't disappoint. It's a little different from your average jock story, but I really enjoyed this book and the way the story progressed and unravelled. The characters are likable, the story believable and the narrators did a great job telling the story.

This is my first read by this author and I can say that I will be checking out her other books.

BLESS

I really enjoyed this this contemporary romance story. A girl who is desperate to get a good grade in a statistic course she’s struggling in turns to a guy whom she doesn’t really consider at first. A classic of don’t judge a person by the cover. These two become close, and important to each other before they realize their causal relationship has turned into something more. Tragedy hits in different ways in both their lives and they must overcome them in order to find their own happiness. Rebecca does an excellent job in bringing the story to a wonderful HEA, but shows the struggle to get there. Erin and Jason did a wonderful job on the dual narrative and bringing the characters to life. The book flows easily and you get sucked into the storyline fairly early and stay hooked until the end.

Sweet college romance

There is nothing about this book that I didn’t like, I’m not a huge basketball fan, but that didn’t matter. I’ve discovered I’m a huge basketball player fan. College drama is also another firm favourite of mine, so win, win. Also, the characters, loved them, even when Wes wasn’t acting his best, he was still loveable, he is a good guy who kept finding himself in unfortunate situations. After agreeing to help Blair with her statistics tutoring, it becomes glaringly obvious that they have chemistry, they also have a lot of common interests. Blair is so sweet, a real girl next door character with so much heart, Suffice to say they are a match made in heaven, they just have a few hurdles to overcome before can even contemplate becoming something more. Rebecca Jenshak is a new author to me, one I am certain I will be reading again. Narrators Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke I’m very much familiar with, and of course they nailed it.
