Publisher's summary

Three years ago, FBI agent Darcy Gellar almost died at the hands of a serial killer.

Struggling with her demons, Darcy moves her family to Genoa Cove. With the sadistic killer she captured serving a life sentence, she hopes a peaceful life along the ocean will end her nightmares.

Then a body surfaces along the coast. And the evidence points to one man: the killer Darcy put behind bars three years ago. Either Darcy caught the wrong man, or an apprentice serial killer stalks paradise. Then the murderer takes another life, and the nightmare of three years ago rushes forth to claim Darcy.

Now Darcy isn’t simply unraveling a mystery. She’s facing a killer who knows what frightens her most. He won’t stop until he takes her life and destroys her family.

But the killer should beware. Darcy stopped a serial killer once. And she’ll do it again.

Awful Narration

The story was good. The main character has to be the dumbest Former FBI agent ever!! But the narrator.. so so annoying.

Great Twists!

Darkwater Cove by Dan Padavona pulled me in immediately. I loved how the author wrote the twists and developed the characters. There were vivid descriptions and several red herrings. One does not know where things are going. The ending of the book was a surprise too. Meghan Kelly was wonderful bringing the characters to life. One could hear who was speaking, and she inflected the right emotions in her voice. I fully enjoyed this listen.

Can you hide from a serial killer?

Darcy moves her family to Darkwater Cove to retire in peace and safety. Suddenly she was anything but safe. Can she keep herself and her family safe? Or her friend? This is truly a thriller and well written. The narrator, Megan Kelly gave a terrific performance.

Good

While this is a good story I was surprised at the main character more than once. She is a previous FBI profiler. So I figured she would be smarter than the average joe. But many times I was shocked at her actions because she seemed to be a normal person when dealing with the cops, strangers and kids. Barring that this is an entertaining story. I spent much time trying to figure out who is the killer. I didn’t get it til they told me. I did listen to this on audio. Meghan Kelly did a great job.

Darkwater Cove

This story had me entranced from the beginning. Darcy was almost killed by a serial killer she was chasing. She used to be an FBI profiler, but after that case her whole life was turned upside-down. As she and her kids settle into their new life, it appears that he's back. but it can't be him can it he's locked up. The story really gets heated and your on the edge of your seat here. I'm glad Darcy has not lost all her training and intuition. I was a bit disappointed with her a few times, all that training should stay with you, yet a few times she behaved as a civilian. Of course maybe it was the post traumatic stress of the situation and being hunted by a serial killer. I also felt her kids didn't take this very seriously. Over all fantastic listen. And Meghan Kelly nailed the narration, she was perfect for this story and so brought it to life.

Was exciting, keeps you guessing

I thought this was a good listen with a good plot, I kept trying to work it out put just couldn't, I really didn't think the killer was the killer. The author throws in a few surprises and turns that keeps you interested. My heart really went out for Darcy and her family. So many people who lost their lives it was heartbreaking. I thought the author gave a believable story with great characters that you could relate to.

Meghan Kelly really pulls out the characters with true emotions giving a very enjoyable listen.. She really bought this story to life making it very easy to picture the scenes. At times I held breath and my heart beat fast a time or two. Her character voices are delivered with such emotion really breaking your heart. There were no repeat of words, no volume change, no background noises. You have no trouble knowing what each character feeling or who is taking. Her tones are right on the money giving a very in depth feeling of emotion. Her female voices are just as great as her males. This is a very clean, clear audio that held your attention.. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. She knows how to draw her listeners in with true emotion and passion.

I really enjoyed this audio, I look forward to more in this series.

What a book

I really loved this book, even at the end we didn’t know who the killer was. Spellbinding, a well written and well narrated book. I give it a ten out of ten, and I do recommend this book.

A definite page turner

What a story! Once I started it I could not stop. Darcy had her hands full with a serial killer & 2 teenagers. I kept wondering if she caught the wrong killer. The author did a great job with the characters. The story kept me guessing which I love. I highly recommend this story.
