As others have mentioned, this audio version of the book includes a chapter on why this book is read by the author, and why it is such a hard-won victory. B.J.'s narration is warm, inviting and encouraging. And more than once, the content made me get up immediately and take action. The stories that frame the science are memorable and personable. B.J. makes change fun and possible. Good luck to everyone reading this: to your success!

Empowering--and wonderful narration :)

The author is a behavioral scientist, and he believes that new habits are best developed when they are linked to habits we already have. So for example, if you're needing to floss your teeth, you should link that habit to brushing your teeth whoch you likely already do. He has many suggestions for how to establish habits and how to establish them by first doing small things in order to expand them to larger ones. I found the concept very interesting and I have tried to develop some new habits since reading the book. It has been relatively effective, but sometimes I still forget them. I believe that his discussion of focusing on small things one at a time is a critical component of the method. We often try to start many habits at once, and that leaves us discouraged when we can't remember all of them. The approach here is to do them one by one and start with the small and work towards the big. The author is able to discuss his work in a colloquial manner and that helps get through some of the dry places where the discussion can get caught up in the weeds instead of rather looking only at the forest. This is a good suggestion for anyone looking to start new habits as part of their New Year's resolutions.

Interesting discussion of habit building
