Acerca de esta escucha
"Abdaal's enthusiastic narration resonates, inspiring listeners to become amateur productivity scientists. Informative, motivational, and entertaining, this audiobook delivers an enlightening perspective on productivity."—AudioFile
This program is read by the author.
The secret to productivity isn’t discipline. It’s joy.
We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there’s another way?
Dr Ali Abdaal–the world's most-followed productivity expert–has uncovered an easier and happier path to success. Drawing on decades of psychological research, he has found that the secret to productivity and success isn't grind–it's feeling good. If you can make your work feel good, then productivity takes care of itself.
In this revolutionary audiobook, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden "energizers" that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three "blockers" we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three "sustainers" that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfillment. He recounts the inspiring stories of founders, Olympians, and Nobel-winning scientists who embody the principles of Feel-Good Productivity. And he introduces the simple, actionable changes that you can use to achieve more and live better, starting today.
Armed with Ali’s insights, you won’t just accomplish more. You’ll feel happier and more fulfilled along the way.

Our current definition of “productivity” is broken. It pushes us to treat busyness as a proxy for useful effort, leading to impossibly lengthy task lists and ceaseless meetings. We’re overwhelmed by all we have to do and on the edge of burnout, left to decide between giving into soul-sapping hustle culture or rejecting ambition altogether. Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon.

Life isn’t linear, and yet we try to mold it around linear goals: four-year college degrees, ten-year career plans, thirty-year mortgages. What if instead we approached life as a giant playground for experimentation? Based on ancestral philosophy and the latest scientific research, Tiny Experiments provides a desperately needed reframing: Uncertainty can be a state of expanded possibility and a space for metamorphosis. Neuroscientist and entrepreneur Anne-Laure Le Cunff reveals that all you need is an experimental mindset to turn challenges into self-discovery and doubt into opportunity.

People don't buy from people they like. No! Your buyer doesn't care about you or your product or service. It's not your job to overcome objections, it's your buyer's. Closing isn't a skill of good salespeople; it's the skill of weak salespeople. Price isn't the main reason salespeople lose the sale. Gap Selling shreds traditional and closely held sales beliefs that have been hurting salespeople for decades. For years, salespeople have embraced a myriad of sales tactics and belief systems that have unknowingly created many of the issues they have been trying to avoid.

Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Our most commonly held formula for success is broken. Conventional wisdom holds that once we succeed, we’ll be happy; that once we get that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. But the science reveals this formula to be backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around.

Overwork is the new normal. Rest is something to do when the important things are done - but they are never done. Looking at different forms of rest, from sleep to vacation, Silicon Valley futurist and business consultant Alex Soojung-Kim Pang dispels the myth that the harder we work the better the outcome. He combines rigorous scientific research with a rich array of examples of writers, painters, and thinkers - from Darwin to Stephen King - to challenge our tendency to see work and relaxation as antithetical.

Sitting at a table halfway around the world, a profound question emerged: What if work doesn't have to suck? What if it can be the center of a life well-lived?

Overwork is the new normal. Rest is something to do when the important things are done - but they are never done. Looking at different forms of rest, from sleep to vacation, Silicon Valley futurist and business consultant Alex Soojung-Kim Pang dispels the myth that the harder we work the better the outcome. He combines rigorous scientific research with a rich array of examples of writers, painters, and thinkers - from Darwin to Stephen King - to challenge our tendency to see work and relaxation as antithetical.

Since you were old enough to hold a job, you've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by blindly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent financial gamble that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative.

In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

How often do you interrupt? How often do people interrupt you? Can you remember the last time someone listened to you all the way through your thinking? In her new book, Nancy Kline, best-selling author of Time to Think, makes this radical proposal: 'I won't interrupt you' is a promise that changes everything. It deepens relationships, spawns dignity, raises the intelligence of groups and enriches every conversation. It may, in fact, be the most important promise we ever make. And the hardest to keep.

Your sincerity means a lot and im inspired to do more just because of you! Im also a doctor and im also trying to start my youtube channel.. this is the first book i “read” in years since medical school and ignited a fire in me to consume more “book content”, tbh i never thought that would happend cuz i dont like to read (i have a bad back and reading was always painfull to me..) but this experiment was a game changer in my life, i apreciate all you have ever done to your viewers and i hope i can be someone that inspires people the same way you’ve inspired me!
Its the first day of the year and im so happy i finished it, i wish you the same feeling and good vibes for 2024! 😊

Touched on very familiar feelings
I enjoyed this audiobook! It was easy to listen to whilst going about my workday and left me with some things to think about as well. I don’t wish to spoil anything, but there is a particular section on burnout that I listened a few times. Highly recommend!

Finding fun in work backed up by science, love it!
Ali Abdaal invested his heart and soul into this work. The book explores how to enhance productivity while simultaneously finding joy and deeper meaning.
From play through nature to making sure your work aligns with your personal values, Ali covers it all from mere fun to deep meaning.
Unlike other productivity books, this one substantiates its suggestions with numerous scientific studies.

Actionable AND Interesting
I decided to read this book after hearing Ali on a few podcasts I regularly listen to. He sounded intriguing and I wanted to know more about his approach as it seemed not only balanced, but practical. In the sphere of self help, there's often a lot of sensationalizing of random information that sounds more like a pep rally: exciting, but hollow. "Feel Good Productivity" doesn't fall into that trap. This book HAS THE DEPTH and simplicity of someone who stumbled upon truth then carefully took the time, to put it to the test and make it accessible(even with HUGE amounts of technical information, I didn't feel lost in this book). A big thank you to everyone who worked on this project. I will definitely be recommending this book to others, and buying it as a gift in future.

Feel Good Audio Book
A couple of months ago I decided to make some changes in my life and I was thinking of how much I wasted in my life.
I decided to download some useful productivity videos to watch on the plane on my vacation and I came across Dr. Ali's YT channel, the videos were really inspiring.
I downloaded Audible and started listening to some of the recommended books he talked about.
Finally decided to go for Feel Good Productivity which just finished listening to today, the book is very organized, straight to the point, encouraging and easy to implement.
Dr. Ali quoted what he found useful as well from other books that I was privileged to listen to as what Dr. Ali recommended in his videos like and not limited to "Getting Things Done", "Atomic Habits" & "Hell Yeah or No"
Remarkable book and will go through it many times.
PS. I started listening to Interstellar, Breaking Bad & Sherlock Holmes sound tracks while working 🙂
Looking forward for the next masterpiece.
