Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart. To him, I was the strange girl whose mom had just abandoned her. To me, he was a savior, an anchor, someone who stood beside me on that beach. The next time I saw him, I was 20, and he was 36. He didn't remember me. And when he flirted...I didn't tell him. By the time he found out, it was too late. We tried to deny our desire, but our attraction was too enticing.

Publisher's Summary
Her blood is toxic to vampires.
If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either.
Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter in Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job - by hand.
Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire.
(Mature YA/New Adult. Contains mild language, violence, sexual situations...and blood sucking.)

New Twist on Vapire Sci-Fi
This is not just your standard True Blood or Twilight-type vampire story. I thought there was an interesting twist in this one, despite being another vampire love story with a female main character. It wasn't the best story I've ever listened to, but it was good enough that I will probably continue with the rest of the series when it is available.
Aurora, the main character, is involved in a near fatal accident that nearly kills her. She discovers that a secret government agency offers to save her (with millions of dollars in treatments) in exchange for her continued service to the country by hunting and killing vampires. Her mother accepts, essentially leaving her indebted for the rest of her life.
Aurora's is told that her rare blood type allows her to carry the vampire virus with significant modifications that make her a weapon against vampires. When they drink her weaponized blood, they are temporarily incapacitated allowing her to kill them. The down side is that she could turn into a vampire if she doesn't receive periodic injections.
She is forced to kill a zombie-like, violent vampire during her agency initiation, but she soon discovers that not all vampires are alike. The boy she has long had a crush on, who is finally showing an interest in her, turns out to be a vampire himself. How can she possibly kill him when he is nothing like the violent killer he is supposed to be?
Narration was pretty good in this book. Overall I give it 4 stars and will probably continue with the series.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

I really enjoyed this book
Where does Aurora Sky rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I really liked Em Eldridge as a narrator. She brought life to the story which is important with paranormal books to me.
Which character – as performed by Em Eldridge – was your favorite?
I liked all the characters she did. I felt she performed really well with the male voices
Any additional comments?
I liked this book. It was just the right length and I enjoyed the time spent. It ends on a cliffhanger but I'm excited to listen to the next book.

A unique take on the "Vampire Hunter".
Any additional comments?
An entertaining and engaging read.
First things first, I have to say that I loved the twist the author put on the Vampire Hunter!! I loved that it's her blood that is toxic and she isn't a "special" girl. I grew tired of the "girl wakes up only to realise that she is "special" story", so this was a refreshing change! Not only that, but it was the government who "made" her! She basically died, but because she had a certain blood type the government were able to inject her with vampire blood to reawaken her. To stop her from becoming a true vampire, she has to take an antidote and to receive that she has to comply with the government! So she is in a catch 22 situation. See, a unique and interesting take on an old myth.
Now onto Aurora. I loved her character. She is a typical smart girl, she is considered a goody two shoes by a lot of people, that is until she nearly dies, and then learns the truth of what she is and what she will have to do. She then becomes a kick ass, take no names, kind of gal, but not without a lot of work!! She was sassy, brave and yet her goodness shone through too. My heart broke for her and what she was feeling!
Then we have Fane. A gorgeous mysterious guy that would never normally give Aurora the time of day. But when she starts rebelling, he notices her and is drawn to her. But of course, he isn't all he seems either!! What will she do when she realises who he is??
I think my favourite character though was Dante! Auroras partner in crime. He was handsome, witty and I was secretly rooting for him and Aurora ;) But who she ends up with is something you have to find out for yourself!!! ;)
The setting was another major plus! How many vampire books have you read that are set in Alaska!!! The descriptive writing was amazing and I could picture the cold!
So anyway, I think you can tell that I enjoyed this!! Lol. From it's unique and intriguing plot, to it's lovable characters, Aurora Sky is a must read!! It's a fast paced and engrossing read and one that will leave you reeling. This is the type of book that once you start, you won't stop!! The author has created a world I didn't want to leave!!
I listened to the audio and had it finished within a day! I just had to keep listening to see what happened next. The narrator, Em, did an amazing job of breathing life into this story. Her rendition of Aurora was flawless. She captured her personality perfectly. I really can't wait to listen to the next edition of the series because it promises to be epic!

Teenage angst intensified by hijacked future
Instead of being able to escape home state and parental discord with college scholarship, Aurora is railroaded into experimental anti-vampire program after life-destroying auto accident. Book to be much enjoyed by 16-19 crowd, but I was out of the loop with all the high school interpersonal politics. Strong plot line and development. Characters are well defined and villains clearly easy to despise.
Audio performer did well in delineating who is who and in expressing Aurora's emotions.

A chore to read... pick a different book.
This book was a chore to read. I wasn't captured or swept away. I actually put it down for a whole week, in the middle of the book... in the middle of an "action" scene. I won't recommend this book to anyone. Seriously, move on to something else. You will have missed nothing.
World-building: B-

Suspense: C

Title Logic: B (Not for inaccuracy, but because of the distinct lack of creativity)
For you clean-readers: this one DOES have a bit of mature content (even though this book feel terribly juvenile and I barely made it through it). Some scene-skipping/self-editing will be needed to read this one.

a fun young adult vamp book
Any additional comments?
Aurora Sky (Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #1) by Nikki Jefford is a different kind of vampire story. Aurora is a teen that dies in a car crash and is brought back by a group (government?) that changed her blood that made her blood poison to vampires. She has to be a vampire hunter or she doesn't get the shot a month to keep her alive. Too bad the guy she meets and falls in love with is a vampire. Fun read.

Not what I was hoping for.
Was hoping for more badass vampire killer, got teenage highschool drama instead. Supposed to have a government super weapon and got all of 3 kills with no sign of enhanced abilities except that she can run for a long time. Just not what I was hoping for going in.

A great start to the series
If you could sum up Aurora Sky in three words, what would they be?
Fierce, exciting and modern
Any additional comments?
I loved this modern twist in the vampire genre. The characters are full of life, energy and attitude which makes it very relevant for young adult readers.I loved Aurora and how she dealt with her trauma. She isn't given any choice in the matter of becoming a government assassin/vampire hunter but she faces it head on and deals with it in her own way.I felt that Aurora's emotional transformation after her accident was very well written and I thought that it made her seem more realistic. I could understand why she would grow apart from her normal friends and start hanging out with a more rebellious crowd. Her change in personality made the story line very interesting and the way she toughens up with each new experience with vampires makes her seem very believable as a vampire hunter.I loved the supporting characters and I look forward to seeing how Aurora deals with the conflicting task of hunting and killing vampires whilst being in love with one of them. The story was fast paced and the narration was excellent. I will definitely be checking out the rest of this series.I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Aurora Sky Vampire Hunter
When Aurora Sky is involved in a fatal car accident, she wakes in a white room to discover that her life has changed completely. Due to her special AB- blood, she's had her organs replaced and literally been brought back to life. But it's for a good cause, she's now a vampire hunter. When a vamp drinks her blood, he is temporarily paralysed, giving her the opportunity to finish him off. But Aurora thinks she may have been better off dying, because this is not the life she wanted, she had plans. Get out of Alaska and go to college.
I really took to Aurora. She's angry with her new situation and not very pleasant in the beginning but that's to be expected. I really wouldn't want to be her.
Fane is an enticing love interest and I really enjoyed their moments together. I'm not sure how I feel about Dante, sometimes I like him and sometimes he just annoys me. But overall, I enjoyed the characters in this book.
This book definitely left me wanting more. I only listen to audiobooks on my drive to and from work, but I found I wanted to listen to this one more. I couldn't wait to see what was coming next. I've bought the second audiobook and I can't wait to get started on it.
“You are about to meet your first vampire, Aurora. I’ll warn you, he’s no Edward Cullen.”
On a side note, the narrator of this book was probably the best I've listened to so far. Her name is Em Eldridge, and I'll definitely be looking out for her again.
I received this copy free from the author, producer, or narrator in exchange for an honest review from Audiobook Blast

I like the realistic way that Aurora reacts to the situation that she finds herself forced into. Her new normality. This culminates in her new years list that then propels her for the rest of the book.
What other book might you compare Aurora Sky to, and why?
I'm not sure as its not like most of the books I read. But maybe a cooler and more adult and grittier version of twilight.
Which character – as performed by Em Eldridge – was your favourite?
Aurora is brilliant. The narration really brings her to life in an accessible way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I listened to it in two sittings in fact.
