The concept was new to me, and inventive. The high school setting wasn’t new to me, and that part wasn’t my favorite, though it was handled reasonably believably. I’m just one of those people who had enough of high school the first time around. The MC was believable as a high school student trying to make sense of a senseless series of events.
There were little plot holes here and there, and some plot twists were telegraphed, but no more than I expected in a first story in a self-published series. I do hope the author has sought out a little more rigorous editing for future books in the series, though.
All in all, I enjoyed the story, especially since it was free. I might even consider paying for the next one if it is less predictable.
