Publisher's summary

What would you do if you learned that your spouse or partner has progressive dementia and, even possibly, Alzheimer’s disease? This is the brutally honest journal of one spouse and reluctant caregiver who “ran for the hills”. Of course, she took her husband George along!

What challenges did Susan encounter? How can she enjoy the present - a journey across the USA - while worrying about the future? How does she and George deal with his increasing dementia symptoms? And the biggest question of all: After 40 years together, can they remain married and loving through it all?

Travel along with George and Susan. You will learn, you will laugh, and maybe, shed a tear as you too go Alzheimer’s trippin’ with George.

I learned a lot during this trip with George

Listening this book gave me a lot info and perspective of living with someone who suffered dementia.
I learned also that all of us should be prepared in live to become caregivers!
Thanks Susan!

Wonderful journey, fun storytelling

I enjoyed this mixed bag of joy and pre-grief/sorrow. The disease is like that... a roller coaster... or a hilly bike ride. Thank you for the tips and for the sidecar trip opportunity to join with you two. :)

Alzheimer’s

This book was great! I was a caregiver for my mother who had Alzheimer’s for 10 years!
It was very hard when she did get angry and aggressive. This book gave a sense of calm and patience. I look forward to the second half when it gets much more difficult to see how it is handled. Being married for 45 years now one of the things we do anticipate is what we would do if one of us gets this dreadful disease!!!!!
Thank you for sharing!

Didnt plan on loving this book

I didn't think I would like it at the beginning but it was great. It was a wonderful journey getting to go with Susan and George on their three month quest of living with dementia. Robin Siegerman did a super job on narration... the book was one I will listen to again.. Thank you

Great book

I enjoyed this book very much. A trip to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Okay not so unusual but it is 3 months long and one of them has been diagnosed with dementia. Susan does a wonderful job of taking us along with her and George. You will laugh and cry and shake your head at this book. Robin Siegerman is the narrator for this audiobook and she is wonderful.
I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.
Oh and I now see that there are more by Susan Straley I will have to look into them.

Navigating Alzheimer’s and traveling

I received a complimentary copy of this book at my request and am voluntarily leaving a review. Susan found so much joy on this trip and shared so many interesting places while facing the problems of George’s physical & mental symptoms. She was able to convey dealing with George in such a straight forward & compassionate way. Weather you are a traveler, biker, or caregiver this is a good listen!
