Publisher's Summary

“Well, now I’m committed,” he thought to himself after telling a national TV game show audience that he wanted to ride a motorcycle to Mongolia with his winnings. He felt the fear that commitment always induced in him; he was hoping they might have edited that bit out. Commitments are something he tried to get as far away from as possible, the only other constants in his life being twenty-five years of financial prudence, travel and motorcycle obsession. So there he was, committed to going very, very far on a motorcycle with his meager prize money. Consequently, he spent a winter on eBay and a spring in the garage preparing his $1000 KLR 650 for an uncertain life on the road. Armed with a cynical humor, a strong sense of direction, a vague sense of balance, and no sense of proportion, he embarked on a 15,000-mile solo motorcycle ride to see what would break first; bike, body, or budget. Leaving an indifferent existence in England behind he headed east, looking for purpose, a new life, and a new location to live it. He was in search of greener grass.

Disappointed

Interesting story but it seemed like he did nothing but complain the entire bad ok. He also comes across as very condescending toward American’s as well as people of faith. For these reasons I do not recommend this book.

Rubbish

Wanted to read of travel . Not some poor white trash ogling and drooling over every skirt in every country.
Typical of entitled people, get upset when in Russia they don’t speak English.
I have never left a review before. I feel it my responsibility to warn you of this trash

Love the story, not the narration !

Have read so many great reviews of the book could not wait to read it ! Found it on Audible and added to the narration to my kindle purchase. Graham does not sound like a happy person as he narrates his book. It is a little irritating. Listened to bits and pieces of different sections and it all seems to be read the same.

Amazing story telling and relatable.

I absolutely loved listening to Graham's book while on my own short motorcycle trip. His wit had me laughing in my helmet for miles on end. I found his story telling relatable and entertaining for hours on end. This book made the miles melt away.

Get lost in the authors adventure!

Loved this book, first time listen and loved every minute of it! The little jokes and things he tells here and there often made me laugh out loud while I listened, the story and performance are great and I will listen many more times as I throughly enjoyed every minute! Don’t hesitate to buy the book or audio book, I know I have no regrets.

Annoying

If you are feeling too good about life and looking for a way to get depressed, this is your book. Here is a guy that wrote a book as a way to offload all the negativity he harbors about himself, others, and the world in general. I suffered through the first hour or so and then decided I can't take it anymore.

Author does a great job reading

it's a bonus to hear the author reading their own book and doing a great job of it.

The story presents itself well and keeps its hooks in you for the long haul. Very easy to listen to during my daily commute and makes me wish my drive was longer...

Loved it very much!

I've digested many, many moto travel books. Honestly this is one of my favorites so far. I liked the simplicity of details and overall story. Two thumbs up from this audio-booker.

Loved this adventure

My favorite audio books are the ones that the author narrates their own book. This would be one of those. Graham has the ability to make you feel as though you are experiencing everything with him. His excitement, his trepidation, his frustration and his absolute joy come through in his voice.

The question one would have to ask themselves here is which part was the adventure? Meeting the people, the traveling, the roads, cities and towns, the bike..... In this case... All of it. Graham delivers a wonderful narration that carry's you every step of the way through the sand, the mud, the rain, the dirt, the beautiful tarmac, the amazing people, the frustrating people (NYET!!) and the beautiful people. He makes you feel his joy and his frustration. Simply Marvelous!

I defy you to get this book and NOT like it. Thank you Graham for sharing your adventure.

really great read

as a fellow biker / traveler I could relate so easily to a lot of Graham's thoughts as he traveled around . many of his problems I had also encountered to a lesser or greater extent . I enjoyed his honest view point and found it refreshing to hear some one tell it how it is . reading this book as just made me hungry for another road trip and more adventures .
I have had the pleasure of meeting Graham on a few occasions and he's a really nice guy full of useful tips and advice
i wish him many more safe journeys

Couldn't finish it

I like motorbikes and I like tales of journeys by bike. Sam Manicom/Ted Simon/Henry Cole/Ewan and Charley.

But I can't listen to any more of this. His Essex boy drawl gets on my nerves as does the constant descriptions of how attractive (or not) the girls/women were.

Plus he's so miserable! He's never happy whether he's alone or riding with others. Some reviews liked the realism of the writing. I just found it, and him, tedious. I gave up at Chapter 13 and will be taking his other books off my wish list.

Returned!

Very entertaining and full of opinionated but humorous observations about all sorts of travelling folks, life in general and the authors own views.

Real and raw adventure travel

Having read Graham’s books, to relive his real and sometimes raw adventure travel story told in his own words is fantastic. Relived through his travel diary it is far from a daily account of the mundane. Highly recommend for lovers of adventure motorcycling and travel alike.
