Publisher's Summary

Are you in charge of your love life? If you think so, you're wrong - hormones control our sex drives and direct our love lives. In The Alchemy of Love and Lust, Dr. Theresa Crenshaw, a renowned sex therapist and researcher, unmasks the hidden agendas of our hormones as we progress through different sexual stages - from adolescence through old age.

Along with well-known hormones, Dr. Crenshaw introduces lesser known but potent influences that make up our "sex soup". The effects of these chemicals working together and individually offer insight into some compelling issues:

  • Do people become addicted to one another through scent and touch?
  • Can we determine our romantic destinies by altering our hormonal profiles?

Romantics needn't worry that science will eliminate the mystery of attraction. To the contrary, this program helps us discover romance, rekindle it, and keep it alive. Filled with often surprising information, The Alchemy of Love and Lust explains the effects of our sex hormones and gives us specific, practical suggestions on how to monitor them.

Abridged; reads like a fun Wikipedia article

A 325 page book in about an hour? The first 45min are just lists basically - lists of hormones, lists of phases of life, lists of symptoms. Interesting but little practical use. The last 25min or so are the author explaining hormone replacement therapy for adults in menopause which the jury is still out on as far as safety goes. Overall very hetronormative, lacks depth, lacks solutions or advice

Men will now know why women behave unpredictable!

Now all we men will know why women behave so unpredictable and annoying. One thing the author of this book failed to mention is that eating Organic non-GMO foods, drinking non-fluoride water and staying away from getting a flu shot & staying away from all vaccinations will women's and men's sex hormones healthy. This is a sales pitch for HRT!

This book as a sales pitch for hormone replacement therapy! Which is absolutely questionable in my book!

I hate abridged books

I hate abridged books. When I purchased this title, I didn't know it was an abridged version, although the material is good. Asking for a refund. Just buy the real book

Statements Not Backed by Evidence

Would you try another book from Theresa L. Crenshaw and/or Theresa L. Crenshaw?

For a book about hormones and how they affect our actions, the author makes a lot general statements that she does not back up with evidence. I really hope the full book is better substantiated. One author that probably should not do her own audio book.

Has Alchemy of Love and Lust turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but glad I used this audio as a preview to the book. I won't be buying the book.

Would you be willing to try another one of Theresa L. Crenshaw’s performances?

No. She sounded like she was referencing a breathy Marilyn Monroe.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration

Disappointed, surprised at the lack of depth

Came off as a campaign for Hormone Replacement Therapy. One sided western point of view. Really not that informative and the metaphors used didn't hit the mark. Honestly most of this info you can get from a YouTube video. Sorry to say....

What did you like best about Alchemy of Love and Lust? What did you like least?

Presentation is boring, the parts that are meant to be sexy sounding aren't. Learned a little bit about the information about testosterone, etc.

Do you think Alchemy of Love and Lust needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Nope.
