How do you define yourself when others have already decided who you are?

Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him - especially his father. He left, swearing never to return.

But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again.

But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have. Because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.

If only he could tell his heart to stay locked away when she whispers she's always loved him, and always will...

I loved this story and it was easy to see and feel what the characters were going through. The author is very good and I will read other stories by her. My only problem was that the voice of the little girl was so loud and annoying I couldn’t find much to like about her. Unfortunately she played a large part in the story so it was hard to feel concerned when she was lost. A soft sweet child’s voice would have made a big difference in my opinion.

This was a great story.

This story was both wonderfully written and narrated. I listened to this in audio and enjoyed the narrators’ version of this robust story.

This story is as sweet as it is dramatic. It contains a lot of heartache and trauma for the main characters, but also contains a wonderful story of love and resilience in the face of seemingly unending adversity.

The small town antics will make you laugh and roll your eyes, whereas the twists will leave you gaping in surprise. The various other elements in between make this a wonderful read.
