No. 4 is the Charm

I liked the world and premise of the series but never liked the main character until this book. She has matured.

Characters, Community, and Conflict

This series has hit it's stride. Holly the main character feels much more developed. She still has her quick to anger impulsive behavior but it feels more realistic less cringe worthy. I find myself enjoying the characters more and more and they feel fully formed. The author does a great job of setting up the conflict and tension around the main character's struggles but never fear always a good ending here. We are dropped right from the beginning into Holly's latest struggles with the SPA exactly where the last story left off. We meet some new characters, say goodbye to some old, and get to see some other folks evolve--which I appreciate, having secondary characters who also get to have personal development and not be simple accessories. The pacing was wonderful, the romance never goes beyond G rated moments as it is not the focus of the story, and the mystery is enjoyable to watch unfold. Amanda Ronconi does a fantastic job as always with the narration--and to be fair I listen to these stories at 1.5 speed. I am very excited to listen to the next installment, I really am impressed with how Danielle is continuing to keep these stories interesting and it is not falling into a formulaic rut. I also highly recommend her other spin off series as well! If you enjoy supernatural cozy mysteries with strong sassy female leads with a sense of humor and a strong thread of community I definitely think you will enjoy the series.

Keeps getting better and better....

Danielle Garrett’s series, Beechwood Harbor Magic, just keeps getting better and better with every installment. The characters and situations remain unpredictable, capricious, and very enjoyable. I always look forward to a new release. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, then this one is right up your alley.

Searching for Beechwood on a map.

Danielle Garrett, once again entices us down her personal rabbit hole to join Holly and her entertaining group of cohorts in another entertaining adventure. The long and short is that the stories leave you wanting to fine Beechwood on a map so you can move there!

I Leaked Some

Must admit this book made me a bit emotional. It’s a compliment to the development of the characters by both the author and narrator. This series is light reading but with characters that become friends. This particular book brought many things full circle. In both happy and sad ways.
