Story
Unfortunately, not all people from magical bloodlines have powers, and at 22, I’m several years past the age they usually appear. So I’ve resigned myself to a boring, magic-less life. Then something strange happens. I get stuck in the middle of a bar fight, and instead of just punching the guy back, I blow a hole in the wall. So...I guess I do have powers. But they’re unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This shit is definitely not normal. And it seems the magical authorities agree. I can go to school, learn to control my magic. Or they’ll take it away. Permanently.

Welcome to Chipping Cheddar, where supernaturals are hidden in plain sight. Be careful what you wish for.... I've only been back home a few weeks and already strange events are happening all over town. Wishes are coming true to the delight of those affected. Despite the seemingly good fortune, I need to put on my federal bureau of magic badge and get to work. I can't let supernatural shenanigans disrupt the natural order of life here, no matter how awesome they seem. When their good luck starts to take a dark turn, I have to kick my efforts into overdrive.

With the famous rhubarb festival right around the corner, small-town tensions, tempers, and godly tantrums are at an all-time high. The last thing Delaney needs is her ex-boyfriend reappearing just when she's finally caught the attention of Ryder Bailey, the one man she should never love. No, scratch that. The actual last thing she needs is a dead body washing ashore, especially since the dead body is a god.

Story
This is simply not my week. Finding out I can’t cook is appalling. My luncheon with the big-boned Immortal socialites went to Hell in a handbasket. I’ve been hoping to join the Fearsome Five and make it the Psycho Six. However, the chances of that happening now are looking slim. Of course, I could force my way in since I’m Mother freakin’ Nature, but I want to be accepted for being me - and because I’m fabulous. It’s bad enough my two sons, God and Satan, are driving me to crazy town while my best friend, Mr. Rogers, is riding in the backseat having a breakdown....

Story
I’ve been happily human for 30 years. Now I’m discovering I’m the reincarnated Fairy Queen of a land chock-full of freaks who want me dead. However, I’ll admit the perks are pretty cool. I have more magic in my little pinky than should be allowed by law in any universe. Not to mention, the love of my life is a Fairy so smokin’ hot, he makes Hell look like a Winter Wonderland. Problem is, my hotter-than-Hades Fairy is imprisoned in Zanthia for nefarious reasons I won’t go into, but now I must head back to that crap hole where I’m the Queen, and save the damn day.

Shadowvale isn’t typical small-town America. The sun never shines, the gates decide who enters, magic abounds, and every resident bears some kind of curse. No one knows this as well as raven shifter Deacon Evermore, who, like everyone in his family, has a curse. While his position as Shadowvale’s peacekeeper lets him use that curse for good, he’d rather live anywhere else. He stays for his family but doubts he can last much longer.

Vampires, werewolves and sphinx oh my.
This book was really great. it reminded me a little of the Robyn Peterman books. It has vampires, werewolves and other supernaturals. The narrator did a great job with each character. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Unbalanced
This strong modern woman takes on a new role in a court and ends up in a physically abusive relationship, but it’s okay because he heals her broken arm and feels “really bad. On the other hand, the author uses her lead character’s OCD as part of a supernatural gift, which is kind of neat. The narrator should look up unfamiliar words before attempting to sound them out, and had a distracting habit of halting her sentences in. . . . . . inappropriate places.

Horrid narrator
This story has so much to offer. A good plot line and unique twists on mythological environments. But this narrator, cannot read, properly pronounce words,, express the flow and emotions of the story, and characters. The book was almost ruined. It’s not the first time, I’ve listened to a book she’s done. It may well be the last. The pain, and excruciatingly poor job isn’t worth it. I understand why I got to buy this book for 1.99$. It’s not the authors fault, it is the fault of audibles worst narrator, and the production leadership that let this be produced, and provided for purchase. SHAME!

The reading was choppy with no inflection. Monotone, pauses for breath timed wrong with sentence structure making it hard to follow. Ended up just reading the book. So much better that way. I use audible for when I drive long distance for work. This this destroyed the story.

Great book, painful narration...
Let me start by saying that I really loved this book. However,in all my years of listening to audible, I have never slammed a narrator like I am about to…the narration was absolutely horrific.
This narrator mispronounced SO many words that it was painful to listen to! Common words! On top of that, she couldn't even say a full sentence without putting weird pauses every 5 or 6 words, no matter what the punctuation originally indicated. I don't know who was the producer, but they obviously were NOT doing their job the day this was recorded.
I did listen to the entire thing because I really liked the story, but I will be buying the e-books for any future books with this narrator.

Please no more Emma Galvin!
I really enjoy Mindy Klaskys writing. Her stories are light and generally fun, but I am pleading, PLEASE, find a different narrator! Emma Galvin has a pleasant voice and I would find her portrayal of these characters if she only knew the meaning of punctuation! She pauses where she shouldn't so often that I find it terribly distracting. As much as I enjoy listening to books I'm afraid that any other Klasky books I purchase will have to be in print not on audible!

No. Just...no.
Setting: Washington D. C contemporary
Genre: paranormal, supposed to be funny
I could not give zero stars, so I gave it one. I don't like to give crappy reviews unless I have been unable to finish a book, then it serves as a warning.
As I said, I was unable to finish. I got barely into chapter 3 before I had to stop.
This character, Sarah Jane Anderson, supposedly found her "dream job" working as Clerk of Court in night court, but then she's attacked by a vampire her first night at work. Apparently, working with supernatural individuals was not on the job description, and she's freaked out. Her boss, a vampire, saved her life but was unable to mesmerize her into forgetting what happened. He offers her 3 months pay and an excellent recommendation, but she begs to keep her job. Now, this woman continues to be extremely frightened. She whines about the situations and monsters she may encounter in the course of her duties. She's irritating!bSecondary characters are introduced in the first two chapters, but are extremely one-dimensional. You can barely tell they will figure into the plot. Or will they?mSarah should have taken the excellent severance package and gotten another job. But then, what of the plot? Look, it's a great concept, but so poorly executed that it was painful. Also, it's in first person POV, which lends itself to internal monologues, but there was too much of that telling and not enough showing. It is just bad writing. Apparently this author has done better work, but it will have to be free for me to even try.
The narration wasn't bad. There were some starts and stops where there shouldn't have been, but maybe the script was crappy. Differentiation of characters was okay.
Anyway, life is way too short to waste time on bad books, so move on from this one. I got the Whispersync deal, so it wasn't terribly expensive, but still...
