Publisher's Summary

Charlie McKay couldn't be happier with her life. Taking care of her daughter and everyone else around her is a labor of love. But the truth she's buried lurks beneath the surface, and letting the oh-so-tempting Craig Sutton into her world is the last thing she needs.

Purchasing the small-town bar is only one of the reasons Craig Sutton moved to Blue Creek. Despite having his own agenda, Craig is unable to resist getting involved with the McKays. And the closer he gets to Charlie, the more entangled he wants to become.

But secrets in this town run deep, and someone is dead set on exposing Charlie's. She isn't the only one with something to hide, and deception threatens their happily ever after. The danger increases, and Charlie must come to grips with the past that haunts her or lose everything.

Kept me wanting to listen to

A well-written story by W.L Brooks. The McKays are having time again as Charlie just wants to take care of her daughter. But Craig is new to town and interested in her but she’s not really wanting to get involved. But he’s determined and sets out to get to know her. But someone from her past is out to let out secrets that will hurt her and her daughter. Craig is determined to help if she’ll let him. Who is it and why? These are the questions I’m looking for the next series. I don't usually read love stories but this was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's an amazing and heartbreaking story to listen to. The pain and pleasure of their lives are played out through a fine plot and amazingly, the whole story is entirely believable. The author's writing style is professional and polished. Her storyline of “Unearthing the Past” kept me turning the page to the end. The title describes the plot, and the characters seem real due to the author’s talented writing. I loved this book and could hardly wait for my next chance to listen to more. Overall, a very interesting story that touched by heart. I would love a sequel to continue listening to it. I look forward to listening to more from W.L Brook's audiobook.

Great novel

Great novel! The scenes, characters, and some places sited in this story were amazing and real. Even the story itself was real because we all really encountered those kinds of problems and sweetness in their life. Unearthing the Past: The McKay Series, Book 3 by W.L. Brooks is a very interesting and thought-provoking story. Well written and keeps one's interest. The ending was appropriate and moving. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone so I'll just say that you must listen to this audiobook. I stayed up all night after the book came out to listen to it because I was totally immersed in the story. I enjoyed this book very much and adored the principal character. I am happy to post a review in this book. I would say that the author is a literary genius and she is one of my favorite writers when it comes to listening to a great novel. Looking forward to the next book from her.

A perfect story to listen to!

A perfect story to listen to! I listened to the whole book because I liked the story of McKay so much. The plot has a nice flow. Meredith had an excellent voice and I liked the way she delivered. She made the story more interesting. It was nice to visit with the McKay family again and follow along on their adventure. Charlie was giving Craig a hard time and he just kept coming back for more. Although they are a close-knit family all their secrets sure cause a lot of problems that could have solved the mystery sooner. Craig had his own secret that almost did him in, too. It takes some twists, turns, and surprises to figure out who is after Charlie and keeps the pages turning. After all the secrets are out in the open Charlie and Craig finally get on the same page and look forward to a happy ending. The story broke my heart and mended it back several times over as I fell in love with it. The author's ability to elegantly put the character's feelings into words makes this book one of the best books I've listened to this year and the ending ties the whole book perfectly.

Well-developed characters

I like the plot of the book. It kept me suspense all the way through. There were a lot of characters to keep track of which could be confusing. The book was well written and kept my interest. The story has well-developed characters who are very believable. The plot was also interesting and multi-dimensional so that I wasn't only following one aspect of the story and that kept me not wanting to put it down. I will continue listening to all these authors' books.

A very story pleasant to listen to

A very story pleasant to listen to. I cannot wait to visit serenity again in the next series. I had a hard time putting this one down and found myself enthralled in the story and feeling for both of them as if they were people I knew. The author does a fantastic job developing her characters, pulling you into the story, and keeping you there right to the end. This is a true page-turner and I loved listening to it. I highly recommend this book.

Well-written and narrated

The story was well-written by W.L Brooks and well-narrated by Ms. Maredith Nash. Ms. Meredith has a great voice that suits the story. As I began to listen to the story, I discovered that I was being drawn into the story and the lives of the characters. Deals with many human problems and what an amazing loyalty of friends. Easy listening and makes you want to read all of the author's books.

Another great book in this series

Another great book in this series. Lots of twists and turns, but easy to keep up with. Once you start reading you will not want to put it down. I think Charlie is my favorite sister in this series and it's hard not to fall in love with her daughter Mack. But when she meets Craig, will his secrets push her too far away? A perfect read!

I loved the characters

I loved the characters, the story, and the performances. I wish the whole thing was flushed out a bit more but all in all, it was cleverly written. I don't want to tell some of the sequences or scenes herein because I want you to listen on your own and to see it for yourself what will happens next.

An interesting story to listen to

An interesting story to listen to. Honestly, I loved this book. It had suspense, mystery, and romance. There is a tight family bond with the McKay's. They are a dysfunctional family but they love hard. Charlie is a single mom and someone is after her. Craig is new to town and has his eye on Charlie.

Worth the listen

I have listened to this book a while ago and enjoyed the story. The authors write very masculine and it works very well with the story and also the narrator did a good job capturing the feel of the story. Some part of the story was sensual but at the same time, it was very romantic. l closed my eyes while listening and I feel like I'm in the story in a corner watching everything.

I cherished and adored this audiobook! The storyline is interesting and intriguing. The story of Heather is unique. This is my first time I purchase an audiobook and it didn't disappoint me. I just enjoyed the story until the last chapter. Once again, Valerie has perfected her writing in such a way that you will most definitely be completely enthralled from cover to cover.

Cool

I like the flow of the story. I pretty loved it and quite interesting with twists and turns. I really enjoyed the story and the narration especially the voice of the narrator because it made me imagine every single scene of the story, she's really an effective narrator. With that, I would definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone especially if you're into something totally different.
