Publisher's summary

As he navigates a strange new world, Edwin weighs forming alliances and deciding who to trust, in the fourth book of this smart, entertaining fantasy series.

Ever since Edwin Maxlin literally fell out of the sky and landed in Joriah, life has been a little bit complicated. For one thing, he’s adapting to a new world that’s nothing like Earth. For another, he’s learning magic, leveling up skills, and adjusting his scientific knowledge to a whole new set of natural rules. Plus, he’s an outsider maneuvering the dangerous politics of an empire he knows zilch about. No wonder he hasn’t had much time to rest.

Having devoted himself to training and studying (when he’s not building incredible new inventions!), Edwin’s finally starting to get somewhat of a handle on all his new abilities—with the help of fellow adventurer Lefi and water naiad Inion. But as his quest for improvement brings him closer to the mysterious and mystically powerful Rillah, he’s faced with a new set of obstacles. Because in a world where his very existence could make him a target, Edwin must be very careful about who he lets get close . . .

Effortlessly combining elements of high fantasy, character-driven storytelling, and the scientific method, The Way Ahead 4 is the fun, funny, and fantastically addictive next chapter of a remarkable quest.

The fourth volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with more than 3.5 million views on Royal Road—now available on Audible and wherever ebooks are sold!

Lost me.

I initially loved this series but this particular book was difficult to complete. The MC was likable in the beginning but I didn’t like him in this book. Also, I really don’t like Rillah. I think she is a manipulator. As for the other chars, I don’t care for them either. So the book was not as enjoyable for me. I don’t know if I will continue with this series.

Like the world not the characters

The world is interesting and always enjoyable to learn about but the characters seem to have no personnel growth they are the same one book to the next especially the mc. It gets to the point that I dread reading anything where the mc interacts with anyone. I know how it will go every time with him explaining how it exhausting or talking about how they just pretend to like him. I understand this is a main personality trait of his but the lack of growth over 4 books is getting boring and tiring to listen to.

wierd case of slice of life

MC faces some sort of anxiety disorder. this make it hard for him to trust. it is an interesting case of watching someone with such a condition trying to fit in and feel loved. the other characters have thier own hang ups. the real selling point is that the way the magic system is explored makes it feel real. their interaction between MC and the world, plus the people also gives the world its own character.
