Jason and the Argonauts in space

It only struck me about half way through listening, but once you recognise the plot it’s hard to not to see the similarities. This isn’t the usual Hammers Slammers fare, so if you’re expecting that, you’d be disappointed. But on its own terms, this is a good yarn. Jay Snyder is a change of pace from Stefan Rudnicki, and aside from a few mis-pronounced words, does a great job.

love this book

I've read this book several times as a paperback, but being able to listen to it while I drive is really cool. Only slight hiccup is plenum in pronounce plea numb anyway, very minor.

Drake does it again!

Fans of Drake will be delighted to consume this extension. You know and love the Slammers, but what next? What else is going on in this universe? What is old Don Slade up to?
Well... Here is your answer, or some of it anyway.

Newbies need to understand that Drake is premiere -maybe even foremost - at knowing a soldier's heart. Why do we do it? What does it cost a man to be a soldier? How do we live with that price? Even if you don't know the Slammers, you will enjoy this story. It stands well on its own, and you'll find yourself wanting to know more...

Complexity and repetition

Too much repetitive action without reason. Very good story basis but not fully realized.Terrific action sequences but too similar to each other. Character development stilted and too predictable. But I will continue to purchase the author’s books.

what a disappointment.

this disjointed collection of gibberish is so far away from the awesome Hammers Slammers series that I couldn't finish it. I finally had all I could take with 5 or so hours left.
Don't waste a credit believing this is part of the Hammers Slammers.
