Leadership is a term that people perceive very differently. Most think of CEOs, managers, and coaches and while that is of course true, it is much more than that. A leader is a person who goes in front of new projects, ideas or trends, and who can direct others towards a common goal. It doesn’t even have to be on a big scale. Remember that teacher who sparked your interest in mathematics or literature? Or your father who motivated you to do your homework when it was difficult? Leaders can be found everywhere in society, and you don’t need a big title to become one.

Did you know the typical small business owner works three to four months just to earn enough profit to pay taxes? Whether you've been in business for several decades or are breaking ground as a new entrepreneur, taxes are a significant expenditure. They must be accounted for and incorporated into your business plan from the very beginning. Failing to account for taxes when planning, budgeting, and assessing revenue goals for a business is like failing to account for the expense of your rent or mortgage.

Packed with information
This was a good listen. It was packed with information to fertilize ideas about starting a new business, or making a small business better. There was so much detail, I decided to buy the book because it seemed more suited to reference than a casual listen. The narrator read the lists and tables in painful detail. I would have preferred a separate attachment for reference. You may find as I did that the written book is a necessary companion to the audio book.

For Someone with No Experience
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No it was not time or money well spent for me. This book is extremely basic. I am talking high school level explanations for each baby step detailed on why you should or should not start a business. Would you like to hear the narrator ask the same questions to you throughout the book? Not profound questions, just wimpy questions like "Are you a motivated self starter?" "Is your family prepared for you to take on this responsibility?" "Do you like to work hard?"
Would you be willing to try another book from Steven D. Strauss? Why or why not?
No I was not a fan of his elementary explanations that can be found by doing a simple internet search.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Where is the substance? I have only been in business 4 years as an entrepreneur so I thought I had lots to learn. Well I still think I have lots to learn because I didn't learn very much at all from this entire audiobook, which seemed long. The best information I received was some websites to go to for more detailed information.
Was The Small Business Bible, Second Edition worth the listening time?
No I wish I had not purchase it. This book is designed for someone who is not already in business. Someone with no idea on where to start or what to consider when starting a business.
Any additional comments?
Do you consider yourself someone with no direction in life and has no idea who they are or what their strengths/weaknesses are? You don't know where to turn for resources or help? Then you may find this book helpful. If you are already on a strong willed path to success you can skip this book and go to one with more complex material and strategies.

Great information for new and experience entrepreneurs!
This audible is packed with great information and advise. No matter what phase you’re in, just getting started, a few years under your belt or a twenty year veteran. You will walk away with some good nuggets of information and actionable items. I myself, have fifteen years as a serial entrepreneur under my belt and still learned several things. My favorite part of the audible was the marketing chapter. The area where I think the next revision can use improvements on or more information/advise are people and stress management. But other than that, it’s definitely worth the purchasing price.

A little too basic for me
This was a little too basic for me. I was looking for something more insightful. Lots of recommendations to go read magazines, go to websites, look in classifieds, and do other things that may be helpful, but I was looking for secrets. None here. I think this is written on a 10th grade reading level. Good book for someone who knows nothing about business and has never pondered it. Just not the right fit for me.

Good for knowing few about many
This book is good for knowing many things about succeeding in small and mid-sized business. It does not tell many specifics but it opens your eyes on many things that might be needed to support your business. Additionally, this book contains many ideas that are new to some countries so reading it (or listening) will open your mind to great amount of new ideas that can be your small business itself such as being a virtual assistant to somebody, or renting space for very short periods, etc.
It is an excellent choice if you want to start thinking about what to do.
