Publisher's summary

All the missing victims of North Carolina's deadliest serial killer have been found, all except Rachel Smith. When the FBI produces a photo proving Rachel is alive and well in Texas, one case is closed but another one is opened. Either this is a case of mistaken identity, or there are more people than just Sloan Jordan and Warren Parish who seem to walk the earth without a soul.

Along with Detective Nathan McNamara, Sloan and Warren travel south to find Rachel and solve the biggest mystery of all: determining who - or what - they really are.

Just to be clear: the plot of this story is wrapped up by the end of the book. However, a bit of information is revealed at the end so the listener knows another book is coming.

Good Book, Excellent Narration!

This wasn't as good as the first book IMO, but it was still good. I liked it. I like the continued discovery of Sloan's abilities. We find out who her mother is. And again some great characters, as well as a couple sad moments.

The story flowed very nicely and is well written. This book is also written in the first person but is delightfully not full of random blah blah blah thoughts YAY. The chemistry between Sloan and Warren is realistic and believable.

I do recommend this series and especially this narrator.

As far as the narration it is fantastic! Love Brittnay Pressley! She has such an amazing voice, she reads with emotion and the men sound like men. She reads with emotion as called for. She is one of my favorite narrators!

Love this Series

This is one of the series that I just have to have the next one when I finish one of the books. The author has given us great characters. Sometimes it is easy to pick out who you think should be together when there are two guys after the same girl. However, I could see Sloan with either of the guys. Warren and/or Nathan. The story is great too. Love the paranormal. Love to see what their gifts are and how they are going to use them. This second book was just as good as the first. The narrator does a great job with the characters and the plot.

I LOVE this series

This book had me all over the place. I loved the twist as it related to Rachel/Angela and look forward to reading when she returns in another book.

The Siren –– Elicia Hyder

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Hell yeah! Lol, I just did actually! This book is pretty spectacular and can also be read as a stand-alone, which is always nice. The previous book, The Soul Summoner, can also be read singularly.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ahhh, such a hard choice! Definitely Sloan and Adrianne! They're both very sassy and witty!

Which character – as performed by Brittany Pressley – was your favorite?

Sloan Jordan, but she does guys well, too!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well...I suppose you'd find out eventually, and it's not really extremely important to the rest of the book, so I'll say it was when Sloan found her late mother's recipe files for her. I cried my eyes out. XD

Any additional comments?

Sloan Jordan: No words can even describe how much I love her! She's sassy, sweet, and all around neat. As a girl who understands the longing to find her birth parents, I can certainly relate that aspect of this book! One thing I will say, without spoiling, is people are not always who they seem to be. There's a whole lot going on beneath the surface, and Sloan will do well to remember that!

Warren Parish: One word: HOT. What's sexier than a military man with washboard abs, an enigmatic aura, and dry wit who uses his "gift" to exact justice?! Okay...I don't really condone murder to solve problems, even in the way he's used it necessarily, but as a last resort to stop some really effed up people, I guess I'd let it pass. (And besides, he's kind of the protagonist, so like. I gotta deal with it anyway. LOLOL. Ahhh, it's a gray area for some lawyers in the crowd. XD) BUT, the man is totally amazing and I love that he's so patient with Sloan.

Nathan McNamara: Two words: Dammit Elicia! Why the hell do you have to do this to me?!?! Nate's just as lovable as Warren and he cares just as much for Sloan too! There's just one itsy-bitsy issue: he's already got a girlfriend––in the form of Sloan's "nemesis." The bro is playing a dangerous game here: two women, three hearts, who's will be broken in the end??????!

In this book, I learned how to make scrambled eggs (yes, cook!), a bit about the Catholic religion (and angels–if they exist), how to shoot a gun, and how military deployment callback "works" all while laughing my head off, crying my eyes out, and yelling at the characters to get their acts together! XD

Of the current Soul Summoner books out this is my favorite one!

Another winner!!!

This is the second book in this series and it is even better than the first. It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat one minute, biting your nails in suspense the next minute and maybe shedding a few tears. Hard to put this one down. Highly recommend. You need to start with book one since the characters and storyline develops more and more as you follow each book. Narrator does a superb job capturing each character’s emotion.

I can't get enough of this series.

The Siren is a well-written, fast-paced, paranormal fantasy that will keep you riveted until the very end.

What's coming around the next corner?

As with the first book, the second in this series has left me anxious for more. I too, like the main character, may need some Xanax to get me through. Yes, a supernatural detective mystery but the characters are realistically loving. Friends who deeply care for each other and always have each other's backs *
