Publisher's summary

They say the best things come to those who wait, and no one hopes that's true more than Special Operations Commander Nathan McNamara.

For over a year, he's put his life, his career, and his mother's hopes for more grandchildren on hold to dive headfirst into a world he never knew existed. A world full of angels, demons, and enough sexual frustration to crack the Pope.

But all that is supposed to be behind him, and his future looks bright and full of possibilities. That is, until a familiar chill ripples the atmosphere - and a supernatural thunder rumbles over the mountains.

This book is not a standalone. This book will spoil the series if you haven't heard it.

Fitting end ...

Maybe ...

This was left with an opening not necessarily to continue Sloan’s story but the back story maybe from a different characters angle. I liked that this was in Nate’s perspective. And I loved that he finally got his happy ending. Also that the end was sad but not horribly heart wrenching. Through all six books I never really got angry at Sloan for her mixed feelings nor did I feel favor towards Warren or Nathan. They way things fell into place made sense especially the love and hate between Warren and Nathan above all they had understanding and respect. One review I read before I began this story trashed this book and I’m uncertain why. Yes there was less celestial and general action but it followed a natural course of things. The wind down and settle, family gathers and feelings cementing and lots of baby happenings. I feel it would have been more unrealistic to not have baby changing and feeding times, group cuddles and mundane daily activities. The things that left the back story open for continuance where just the right touch action and build of interest for future stories in this funny and exciting world. I d

Somewhat redeemed

Its an awkward transition from the last book to this for me. I guess mostly because the narrative of different characters is not the same, a listener gets used to the way Adrienne sounds as well as even the accent Nathan has so the difference is hard to get used to but the narrator did a fine job. The story line keeps you interested but the absence of Warren is acute. This character needs to have his own story line if he’s not in the main plot line. He’s too important and interesting.

Good but narrator pronounced names differently

When narrating a book in a series, the narrator should listen to the other books so they know how to pronounce the characters names - for consistency.

Marvelous Series!

I loved The Regular Guy. I am always down for a story from Newt-Newt's perspective. Carson Beck's narration definitely pleases my brain & ears. While I enjoy Brittany Pressley's work on Books 1-5, I definitely felt that Beck brings Nathan to life in my imagination. How Hyder keeps cranking outstanding story after outstanding story out. I do not know, all I know is that I will keep reading and keep listening because I am entranced with this series harder than Nate is to Skittles. :p

Great Series!

This was a great series all the way around. I am so glad we got Nathan's point of view and got to know him better. I always liked him as much as I liked Warren too.

That is the problem sometimes with books written in the first person. You don't get everyone's POV so this was a treat.

If you haven't read this series I highly recommend it. It is very entertaining and fun. A lot of things happening and not full of filler nonsense.

As for the narration, Carson Beck did a great job, the women sounded like women, he has a nice reading voice and everyone gets their own distinct voice.

Happily Ever After the heartbreak

After Series 5 I cried for the Sloan and Warren story, they had fought so hard to make it work, but in reality she always belonged to Nathan. Nathan as a father is quite entertaining

Great!

This made me laugh, & cry. I could almost see me there watching them. I recommend it. Is there another book coming or is it the end?

Narrator

Love the series and the narrator up until this book. The narrator for this book did a decent job but should have listen to at least one of the other books so he knew how to pronounce the names of the characters.

Sloan & the Gang are Back!

I love this whole series and The Regular Guy is not a disappointment. Enjoyed reading from Nathan's point of view on his feelings for Sloan. Even Warren whom I felt bad for and still do. We find out what happened to Az. Quick fast paced must read. Hope the storyline continues.

Great story but narration is lacking

I really enjoy the writing and the story. The narration however pulls the story down. The reader lacks inflection. Several of the authors characters tend to be a bit snarky and sarcastic. Their comments come out flat as the reader simply reads the words with no meaning behind them. The female voices are not good at all, and I struggled to get through the story because of this.
