From NYT bestselling author Rachel Gillig comes the next big romantasy sensation, a gothic, mist-cloaked tale of a young prophetess forced on an impossible quest with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight. Perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout and Leigh Bardugo.

Sybil Delling has spent nine years dreaming of having no dreams at all. Like the other foundling girls who traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral, Sybil is a Diviner. In her dreams she receives visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur, and lords and common folk alike travel across the kingdom of Traum’s windswept moors to learn their futures by her dreams.

Just as she and her sister Diviners near the end of their service, a mysterious knight arrives at the cathedral. Rude, heretical, and devilishly handsome, the knight Rodrick has no respect for Sybil's visions. But when Sybil's fellow Diviners begin to vanish one by one, she has no choice but to seek his help in finding them. For the world outside the cathedral’s cloister is wrought with peril. Only the gods have the answers she is seeking, and as much as she'd rather avoid Rodrick's dark eyes and sharp tongue, only a heretic can defeat a god.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"I’m obsessed with Rachel Gillig. The Knight and the Moth is achingly romantic, richly imagined, and told with a gossamer delicacy that keeps the pages flying."—Hannah Whitten, author of The Foxglove King
"With the headiness of dreams and the darkness of haunted abbeys, The Knight and the Moth is a dazzlingly transportive tale of love, salvation, and freedom that cements Gillig as one of the finest fantasy writers of our age. You will never want to surface from these enchanting, depthless waters."—Ava Reid, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Study in Drowning

“A gothic, romantic fairytale that feels like falling into a dark, strange dream—one you won’t want to wake from. With twisty parables, monstrous divinities, a slow-burn romance and magic with a deadly cost, the story of The Knight and the Moth unfolds like peeling back a gossamer shroud. Gillig has done it again—I’m obsessed.”—Amélie Wen Zhao, New York Times bestselling author of Song of Silver, Flame Like Night

"If you only ever look up at something, can you ever see it clearly?"

Such a unique magic system. Fantasy at its best!!!!
The banter between all the characters was everything to me. Such a wonderful and real FMC trying to find herself after everything about her life is dismantled. My glorious/adorable/sweet gargoyle who stole the show!!! So many great things to say!!!
This is quite literally the book of the year.
I need the sequel now!!!!!

Gothic. Atmospheric. Romantic. Hilarious.

Knights and maidens, gods and monsters but in a story so unique it is comepletly unfamiliar - there is no hint of a retelling here, so trust that you have never read it before. It is captivating and ethereal with a surfacing dreamlike quality - like a dream you remember upon waking but is almost out of reach and fading fast.

The pacing was smooth and I was never bored. At times a bit strange and confusing, but only because the prose requires focus until one is comfortable with it.

The characters are unveiled slowly, like peeling an onion, and though they were not fleshed out completely, there was enough for book one that I was not frustrated or left cold; I just wanted to know them more intimately. The mix of characters is defined and diverse - everyone and thing has its proper place and role without feeling stiff and one dimensional.

The world building is rather like observing a watercolor landscape, at least to me, a bit soft focus, dreamlike, veiled, much like how the heroine of the story must feel looking through her shroud. When you try and focus on it, it becomes clearer but only just.

The romance is a slow, slow burn that is worth waiting for, and it is not dispatched a moment too soon...and does not disappoint.

Familiar fantasy elements in a wholly unique story.

I don’t even know what to say about this book yet. It was such an exciting story! The writing draws you in with such a compelling, old-worldly grasp. The FMC and MMC are mysterious and captivating, the world building astounding, and the bat winged gargoyle - maybe my favorite side character of all time.
You don’t go into this book expecting to laugh, but you do! There’s wit, action, romance, and fable telling at its finest.

This is by far one of my favorite books of the year

This story was such a unique setting. I enjoyed how you get to know all the omens and see this journey. But that ending. Oh my goodness. It had me crying. And I’ve never loved a gargoyle so much in my life. I cannot wait for the 2nd book

I loved this book! I fell in love with Rachel Gilligs style in The Shepard King, but this new book was even better. The world, the magic, the story gripped me from the first word and the characters were beautifully written. I would recommend to anyone who needs to fall in love with themselves and is enchanted by a world as darkly beautiful as a moth.

unique and wonderfully gothic

When I ate up her Shepherd King Duology I knew that anything Rachel would write, I would read. I’m so happy to have been correct in that assessment. The Knight and the Moth was perfect. The story, the characters, the world building. A beautiful balance between humor and somberness. I laughed and cried during the story, and eagerly await the sequel.

The narrator did a BEAUTIFUL job. She was easy to listen to and distinguish when characters changed.

She did it again!
