Well written great twists and turns!
Couldn’t get anything done but listen to this story. The plot is tight but twisted which I suspect is not easy to plot and write. The characters and their strengths and weaknesses are the best part of the book- all different, all relatable….somewhat flawed, making mistakes, daring fate, failing and getting back up. I will remember them from here on- I can’t say that about all the books I listen to. WELL DONE!

Great world building and awesome debut can't wait for more
Hannah Kaner's first installment is an awesome ride about divinity, heroism, loyalty and love. Sometimes how those things can be useful against you. Sometimes how those are the only things that really matter. Great exploration of concept and world. foreshadowing of the greater events makes me excited for the next volume.
Truly a fun time. I personally loved Skedi and how he changed throughout. Also loved the Elo the baker knight and who doesn't love a god killer?
Kit Griffith brings the world to life. Did a wonderful job injecting emotion and menace into the gods voices. Also enjoyed the gruffness of Krissen.

The narration is the worst, but then the best...
I honestly didn't know if I could listen to this when I first started. The narration was done with such a repetitive rhythm it was hard to hear the actual words. But suddenly, I was engrossed in the story and that rhythm was absolutely perfect! I say this to encourage anyone initially put off to push a little longer.
The story is original even though you can spot a lot of influences. The characters are dynamic and the world is interesting and layered. Some of the pacing and passage of time feels skipped, but that's a minor quibble. I would recommend for fans of the Witcher books and who grew up loving The Hero and The Crown.
I'm glad the second book is already out but I'm guessing I'll be anxiously awaiting the 3rd as soon as I finish that one.

Superb
Superb world building! Plot was captivating. Characters were enjoyable and flawed and wonderful. I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed it thoroughly through to the end.

Captivating
What an incredible read! I was instantly hooked from the first chapter all the way through. The writing was fantastic, and I truly appreciated all of the representation that felt natural and easy.
I want the narrator to narrate my life. They brought the story to life and I could listen to their voice tell me about the weather and be swept up in it.

The characters in this book!
Amazing characters and character development + relational development! Love the real world elements of sign language, prosthesis, and lgbt+ relationships ❤️ love the voice actors accent too!
